Take it for what they it's worth but according to Alex McDonald (@DMcDonaldHoops), top 100/150 recruit and 6'8 sf Jarion Henry will be here for Marquette Madness
Once again a Buzz recruit comes out of no where...
Great News! Any word on other recruits that will be there?
Rivals has him as a 4-star, 84th best player in class of 2011...glad to see another recruit show up on our radar. Just by virtue of being on Final Four/Five lists of about 6 or 7 Top 100 kids, it seems probably that we will at least land one Top 100 kids. 2 would be very special.
Buzz is doing an incredible job...I used to joke with my fellow coaches that after a day or two of tryouts/practices i could within a few games guess what our record would be.
Point being what i did as a coach did not change and i always took the greatest compliment/satisfaction when other coaches would year after year remark on how intelligently and hard my teams played. Every year I would get more requests to play colleauges teams and in tournaments than we could possibly schedule. And they always said the same thing..."we want to play you becuase we know what we will be getting and it will be a great test for us". I always took that as a great compliment and some years we only had slightly above .500 teams.
I will never forget we went and played a tourney one year, a good friend had ateam he thought would be really special and we agreed to come and scheduled to play in their tourney. Normally in a situation like that ...a 4 team tourney...you schedule it to have them play in the title game and get two other average to not so good teams to play in your first round games and advance to meet for the title. The pairings had not been made yet and we were off to a 4-2 or so start and i called him and said we might want to play each other in round 1 that I dont have one of my stronger teams. he agreed becuase he wanted to play us and proceeded to tell me how they were 9-0 or whatever and really stronger one of his best teams ( he has coached 30+ years) etc. etc.
So we go up there I think it was athanksgiving tourney and after the first quarter had absolutely punched them in the mouth and they had no answer to our execution or intensity and we led 27-7 at the end of the first queuarter...we rolled from there and ended up winning by the smae amount or maybe a little more. after the game he laughed and said"i told them all week what was coming and tryed to get them ready..etc..etc..
Bottom line and the real point is coaches dont really change you know what you are getting out of a huggins team or a pitino or boeheim team....what does change and the variable is the players...the talent... I knew after practice or two or before a season how good we were going to be ....they know too. the variable is the talent.
Oneill did not think he could get the talent he wanted at Mu or thought that it was too hard so he left. Crean felt the same way and he left. Deane could notget the talent he needed and he got fired. Buzz does not appear to limit himself with that type of thought and there is no doubt Mu is harder to recruit to than much of the top 25 type schools. I also think he has a charisma that makes him a great recruiter. He is doing and unbelievable job on the recruiting trail and i say that now and i will say that when our class is signed regardless of whom it consists of.
+ 1000 to that entire post Canadian
I have been observing of late and not posting much, but your post is spot on in many regards. When people think of Marquette basketball they think of grind it out, never give up, dive for the ball type of hoops. I would much rather have hard working kids on the court and off of it because I think it exemplifies the Marquette students and the university as a whole. That is what I loved about Marquette, is no matter how good or bad we are in basketball the opposing team will come away with respect for us.

Crean felt the same way and he left. He must be filling the ranks with Blue Chippers now that he is at IU
Deane could notget the talent he needed and he got fired. Correction - Deane never tried to get top talent. It was a pathetic combination of laziness and drunkeness. What a sluggard that guy was
Based on this youtube video certainly looks like a Buzz guy who can dribble, pass and shoot.

Seems like a perfect backup plan to Rodney Hood, their games and bodies seem really similar
