Title: Dwight Burke !
Post by: Murffieus on November 12, 2006, 10:39:10 AM
By far the single most impressive play Friday night was when Burke came roaring in from the high post to grab that rebound with one hand and slam it down-----almost had another one just like it (outstanding athletic moves ---both). That plus what I saw of him last year in the Katrina scrimmage posting up at #5 makes me very optimistic about his contributions in the future-----but at the #5 position, let me be very clear on that-----as he's a "sterile goose" on the perimeter-----has no future there!

He hasnt won minutes - something is missing.  Dont think a 6 min performance can tell you anything.

Well a guy who did what HE did with those two offensive dunks off rebounds injust  6 minutes is a guy who should be getting more minutes (that's a rate of 10 offensive rebs every 30 mpg)----much more assertive than Barro who plays soft.

In addition, Burke is our best pure postup------has very good moves (right or left) with his back to the hoop!

Burke had a nice tip dunk.  But, that was it.  The wheels fell off in the last 4 minutes of the first half when he and Blackledge manned the front court.  They were literally taken to school by Hillsdale.

It was nip & tuck the whole first half ----and Hillsdale had a few buckets at the end of the half which MU couldn't match------of course that was Burke's fault-----never mind there were 4 other defenders on the floor !

Burke and Trend for that matter might have a highlight play here and there but they will not see a lot of minutes once we start playing against tougher competition.

No...and other than the dunk, Burke was pretty invisible.

Pretty important stuff considering one particular poster touted Burke as likely to be the most talented member of last year's freshman class.
