Prior to Buzz, 72% of MU's recruits who saw Top 8 in minutes came from WI or IL.

Our current scholarship roster (including Wilson who won't see minutes this season) is comprised of 31% WI/IL players. Nine of our schollie players, or 69%, have roots (Junior) and were recruited from below the Mason-Dixon line via Buzz's network. Five, or 38%, come from the JUCO's as we have discussed ad nauseum. Of all the players we are seriously mentioned with for 2011, only Shaw fits the IL/WI profile. For 2012, JP and Nolan.
I think we have a good chance with Shaw as his final four are Illinois, DePaul, MU and ND--three BE Catholic schools. Illinois still leads due to AAU roots. He loves Buzz, is friends with Reggie and Benford has been involved a long time. However, I see some Southern two steps coming.
Interesting topic. I think its great how Buzz is truly recruiting on a national level. In his time here, not only has he brought in the top 2 WI recruits of the last several years in Wilson and Blue, but he has brought in players from the northeast, mid-atlantic, Florida, many from Texas, JUCOs all over the country, and Canada (by way of TX). Now this year he has multiple guys from the West coast as well as the rest of the country looking at MU. Great to see. I mean, since when do guys like Juan Anderson even think about MU?

Where did you get that final four from? Not trying to discredit you, that would actually make me very excited. It just seems like Shaw has had a ton of schools on various lists throughout his recruitment. For a while it seemed like Georgetown, Michigan State, and Texas were all making hard pushes. The only schools that seem to be there throughout are us and Illinois.
I hope that we are in Shaw's final 4 as well I think he would be a perfect fit for Marquette. As far as Michigan State I am nearly positive that they are filled up for the 2011 class.

Yes, MSU is full. I was just showing how all-over-the-place Shaw's recruitment has been.

Shaw can go anyplace, you are right. My info is from odds and ends and there a hundred guys here with better recruiting info I am sure. WVU is also making a push. Just note that the one consistent with Shaw is he has always had strong interest in schools close to home. Also, this is a kid with an NBA body. A PF or Center own a disproportionate number of NBA picks. My guess is he wants to someplace and make a big impact early with a strong supporting cast. He has a very connected and informed circle. MU has a great talent level, and we have a spot of need (PF) that fits both parties. But, the competition is tough at the levels Buzz is entering as he is out of his power network.
Agree, and with jones and crowder originally from georgia, the focus at an atlanta mu get together wa hoping mu could schedule ga tech or someone down here.
Those final four came from the bullseye bros interview with Dodds currently posted on Scout. Along with the note on WVU joining.
Also, FYI - Shaw goes to a Catholic high school.

You can follow along any of the schools' boards, ESPN, Rivals, Sun Times, etc. This is one of the most publicly spun recruitments and I am sure all of us have friends who have info on this one as I do. If Buzz lands Shaw, this is a great show of strength that he has moved his recruiting out of his base network where he has been able to garner the early commits. Interesting that Buzz and crew seem to be in on a lot of these kids before the big boys. If he can land some of these 4 and 5 stars, we know we have something special as he is going against the top dogs who are able to swoop in.
