why we don't like Coach Pearl. His teams play hard, up-tempo offense with good on the ball pressure D. Besides, he's created renewed enthusiam in a lifeless men's program in Knoxville when others including Kevin couldn't. Looks like a winner to me.
Because if it weren't for him, the words "Pat Summit" and "cheerleader" would never cross.
What more reason do you need?

1) Because he records telephone calls and narks on other programs
2) He actively pursues players that are bound to scholarships at other schools and lures them into transferring
3) He cannot win on the road
4) He wears orange suspenders
5) He uses the media to berate cross town programs rather than deal with them in a professional manner
And if you think Crean runs off players....Pearl has it down to a science.
That's just for starters....probation within 3 years.

why we don't like Coach Pearl.
Because he said he'd play MU anytime anywhere, but when the offer was put on the table he backed away, then complained to the press that MU was avoding him.

you should have added this also, it fits: "when others including Kevin couldn't."

Touché!
Well put, not much you can say to that.
My only beef with Pearl is that he sweats way too much.
how can someone sweat completely through a wool suit?!? I mean good grief...noone should sweat that much or wear that much orange.
I say go ask the Illini fans why people don't like him.
I'll tell you something about Bruce Pearl------and that is that he came all the way up from Tennessee just to attend Jerry Homan's son Luke's funeral at St John Vianney church in Brookfield last October.
Luke was on two of Pearl's teams at UWM as a walk on, but hardly got off the pine. I think that says something about BP-----as he didn't have to do that!

Thanks to Bo Ryan for bringing this up to the national press or no one would have known. Bo....always looking out for his fellow coaches. ::)

whether he tries to make it a scene or not its going to be, Im sure everyone was amazed to see Joe Thomas too... get off Pearl's back, that is one of the more sincere things Ive heard... I am a fan of Pearl, don't like the way he does some things, but you can't blame a man for showing up in a limo trying to pay his respects for someone, what did you want him to show up in, a taxi??? he didn't drive up here.
BP would be #1 on my list if TC ever left. He's one of those guy you hate when he's against you but love when he's on your side. KInd of like that one roommate in college who you kept getting in fights for every weekend.
Plus it seems he and TC have patched it up, TC went on and on during his radio show the Monday after PItt how he got a call from BP, how much it meant to him and how great of job BP was doing at UT.
BP would OWN Milwaukee if he came here and he would enjoy it, he's one of those coaches who revels in that limelight.

Was he wearing a Hai Karate outfit as he emerged from the limo?

I really like Buzz Williams, but I have never seen anyone or anything sweat as much as him.
I will withhold all judgement on this matter until Tim Maymon issues a statement or holds a presser because I know then I will get the "real" truth to all of this.
Umm...may I ask why this needs a 3+ year bump? I think when a thread's been untouched for that long, it's safe to say it's time to let it die.
Because he's an egotistical phony. And I would know. Did I mention showboating grandstander?

I think the mods should flag any thread that is more than two months old.
What goes around comes around - guess things have changed for Pearl since '89.

The major error in that article is every time the author says "this year" as if to imply this just started this year. B.S.
