Dude was a beast in the Great Midwest.

Anybody have any memories of him vs. Marquette?
Capped 12 times?
Somebody wanted him dead and gone. Sounds like a hit.

Hmm... recently divorced. Wife mentions he carries a lot of money with him yet he is shot many, many times (not the average robbery scenario). Maybe I have watched too many "Snapped" episodes but my leading candidate would be the ex-wife right now.
I remember him absolutely destroying MU in a conference tourney game. Tough ending.

Maybe we could be a teeny bit more sensitive regarding the situation.

Maybe you could, i don't know, f*** off?
OK, I already know what type of person you are by reading two of your posts.
A sensitive person?
He also had a very interesting middle name.
Lorenzen Vern-Gagne Wright
Dad or Mom must have been a huge "wrestling" fan.

I hope Vern isn't upset by this news.. don't need him putting the boston crab on 97 year olds again.
Are some posters unaware that there is another section labeled "superbar"?

The original post asked for stories about him playing against Marquette.
It didn't go down that path but the orginal post was AL worthy I believe haha.
I remember Memphis coming in to the Bradley Center in 1995 or 96 ranked in the Top 10. Wright, if I recall correctly, had a monster game but MU won handily.
Having met Lorenzen on many occasions, I can honestly say he was one of the good guys. A real class act, win or lose.
Rest in peace.
I don't remember him too vividly against MU. But for anyone who watches "The First 48", they know that the city of Memphis don't do murder on an amateur level.

This thread is TOTALLY about basketball--
A Former college/NBA player is dead/shot 12 times...
Its a mystery who did it....
Solving the mystery can only be done by die hard basketball fans....
The fan's ANSWER to the mystery ?
The killer MUST have been the perimeter shooting guard on one of Lorenzen's former teams...
How do we know?
Who else would take 12 shots in row and keep shooting regardless of whether he's hitting?
A real shooter just keeps taking the open shots, until they fall......
I am suspecting of that great pure streak shooter , also from U of Memphis ....Penny Hardaway. lol
Insensitive, but hilarious houwarrior...
Bill Simmons tweeted this when Lorenzen's body was found:
"RIP Lorenzen Wright. 4 '96 Clippers passed away (Sealy, Wright, B. Williams, Duckworth) + a 5th is a quadraplegic (R. Rogers). Dumbfounding."
That is crazy.

Pretty sure it was '96, a Saturday afternoon game, on CBS...probably a top 5 day in my college career.
