Just heard that some parts of the city have had 8" of rain...with more on the way...and streets are closed all over the north side.
Hope all Scoopers are safe, if not dry.
Currently building a big boat and gathering up the animals 2x2 in The Quon.
It's been an absolute deluge here. It got so bad over by North Avenue and Oakland that a sinkhole swallowed an SUV and streetlight outside of where Pizza Man used to be.
After not being able get home, I holed up at Cafe Hollander for two hours.
Just crazy out there.
How is it now?
Hoping you are all doing well/better.

7 but yes, it's worse than 12 bitches on a bitchboat out there.
blog has a solid collection of pictures: http://mugrack.wordpress.com/2010/07/23/hurricane-milwaukee/
Otherwise just do a twitter search for #brewcityflood. Most of Milwaukee is underwater. Beaches are closed through Sunday because there is gonna be so much poop in the lake

hey thats my picture. it was shown on the weather channel and the today show contacted me about using tomorrow. 15 minutes of fame.
be curious to see if it gets as bad as the flooding we had in nashville back in may. 23+ inches of rain in a weekend.
Lived in my house 12 years .. never had anything like this. The street flooded and was up to the houses. I imagine there are zero dry basements in a mile radius, perhaps 20. Someone got out their canoe, just for the photo op down the street.
My basement has an inch or two, just enough to make it miserable. Cut out about half the carpet. Tomorrow, the other half.
AHOYA mobile almost under...

Can't really tell, looks like you're inside of a front door looking out at your driveway...is there supposed to be a street somewhere in between the "AHOYA" car and the houses behind the car? If so, that's insane (not that it isn't if there isn't one, but still).
The basement (underground parking) of my apartment complex in Franklin is flooded with about a foot of water. It was fun watching it flood while waiting out the tornado warnings in the car. However, carrying an 80 pound dog (Didn't want to give him a bath) through the flooded basement after the warnings were done wasn't worth it.

Actually, my wife is taking the picture inside .. you can see me way out in the street, about waist deep. I'd say the width of the river-street was about 60 feet.

That is crazy. Hope the damage was minimal

A guy in Shorewood (2 miles from me) had a rain gauge .. 11.4 inches!
What was amazing was that by midnight or so .. the water in the streets was gone. The storm sewers were able to handle it .. just needed 5 hours. I mean .. sometimes, you see communities flooded out, and the water is high for days.
Here's a good video:

Not even enough time to get out the rowboat... I was hoping to do some kayaking down I-43 myself, but alas no luck.
At least the people who planned the sewer system in Milwaukee got the drainage part right. Now if they had only figured out the treatment/disposal side of that issue.

I need that rain gauge to do some measuring of my own.
Looking at that video who wudda thunk that taking public trans would be the SAFEST way to get around! lol
Apparently Milwaukee County bus drivers think "No-wake" rules don't apply to them. Typical government worker!
