Is this a legit possibility? I know nothing about the Bucks. Which players does he have to beat out for a spot? Are his chances good or bad?
Help!
Backup Point guard is wide open now with Luke gone. They could use him to play tight D on Jennings during practice and situational time as a 15th man.
As a bucks fan I would love this.
Would you rather have James, Diener...or neither?
James might actually fit their tempo better, but Ridenour was a nice offensive option off the bench and neither really can provide that.

The Bucks only have one PG on the roster...Jennings. So if their plan is only to look at the summer league roster and pick a back up from there, then James would be the choice as he has outplayed the other two options(Rickey Franklin and Paul Delaney). They could still resign Royal Ivey, but Hammonds has seemed to like having three point guards on the roster, so James could earn a spot there.

Great question, and I think I would take james, as there are enough weapons on offense for this team, and they need a PG that can really find teammates, as well as prepare Jennings with tough D every day in practice.
A minimum salary player like James might fit the Bucks well. It is important that they keep cap flexibility to make trades at the deadline if they think they can make a run.
Also, D James getting a few minutes here or there might put some butts in the seats at the BC. If I were still on campus, there would be a 20% chance of me catching a game that is not against Chicago, Miami, LA, or Boston (and actually Portland now). If James were getting minutes, there would be a 100% chance of me going to a lower profile game just to see James. Who knows how many people it would be true for.
It may just be blind homerism, but I think James has a decent chance of having the proverbial cup of coffee in the NBA.
Jerel... not so much.
If he makes it, does 4ever owe me for last year's bet as well? That would fulfill the 2 of 3 of the Triplets make the NBA
;D

I would bet that DJ's "butts in the seats," impact would not be enough to make it a deciding factor in signing him. Winning ultimately puts butts in the seats and money in the owner's pockets. Everything else is fools gold.

Yeah, that's right. I'll need your mailing address, too. Being on a fixed income, I can use all the help I can get.

I learned last night that the Bucks are signing a back-up point guard Monday and it isn't DJ.
What can't everyone see who is objective? DJ's a nice ball handler and assist man, that's it. He's short, has no shot both from the field and the line, and gets abused defensively. Who needs that?
Furthermore, common sense tells you the Bucks aren't going to back up Jennings with an inexperienced rookie. Is it that hard to see the light?
Word is that they are interested in Luther Head for the backup PG spot. Still need a #3 though...

My guess is they snag Head and maybe even Ivey again.

Yikes. When they take guys who fail medicals before you, it might be time to revise your plans Mr. James.
Unfortunate.
James is a good guy and plays hard, but IMO he's just to small and can't shoot well enough to stick in the NBA.
