Hottie buzzer beater before the end of the 1st.
But in a highlight reel of the game, he took on 7'4" Seck and got tossed much to the entertainment of the crowd.
What do you mean he took him on and got tossed?

Sh got blocked tk kingdom come.
Wes and trend in the house to watch DJ!!'n
He got in the final 4 minutes of the first quarter and had the buzzer beater 2 point shot and had at least one, if not two assists. The team scored 4 points in the first 8 minutes and scored 8 points in the final 4 minutes of the first quarter when he came in. The offense ran much smoother and crisper with him in the game than it did with Paul Delaney and Ricky Franklin running the point. The first possession he was in he made a no-look pass to Darrell Jackson for a layup to get things going.

vid of DJs last second shot.
"...as tough as they come" after DJ dove after a ball going out of bounce...he's still got that Marquette hustle, but I was afraid he was gonna injure himself again, but fortunately he's okay, because right after that, he blocked a shot at the buzzer to end the 3rd quarter.
Is there a stream?

Bucks and Mavs go into OT...DJ still on the floor, playing solid D and running running the team well...although still a poor shooter.
Yikes...game-winning shot right over Dominic James...but he stayed in during the critical times

He couldn't really do much about it with his height, but he still did a good job challenging. It was a tough shot to begin with, and I thought he did a pretty good job on Beaubois (sp?) overall.

'Zar leads the TWolves in scoring! Greg Stiemsma is on the TWolves but was scoreless in just under 9 minutes.
As mentioned earlier the team functioned much better with James running the point - more crisp, everything just flowed better. DJ didn't look for his shot a whole lot. Played good D, but not great D. Thought Jerry Smith played well in his limited minutes.
Without a jump shot DJ isn't a NBA player. Mavericks guy just sat off him which really impeded DJ's ability to get in the lane on the drive.

It is true the jumpshot holds him back, however, I was surprised that simply his "regular" shifty moves at the top of the key was enough to back off his defender and open a passing lane to a shooter or dump down to the post. At the very least, James could be an effective change of pace back-up working on a defender with tired legs.
I'm sure all MU fans wish the best for DJ, however, he was abused repeatedly defensively. A lot of guys can handle the point, but without an effective J, James will be earning his basketball living in Europe.
Geez, I saw the title Day 1 DJ - and thought it was a new Newbill thread!

Agreed. Gladto see him knock down the FTs. He had NO problem bodying up his player. But Rodrigue Beaubois exposed his height disadvantage. Got DJ up in the air with a pump fake, and shot the three easily over him.
Talked to him after the game. Still has that classy smile. He said he enjoyed Turkey.
Also talked to Trend. He had been playing up in Canada and I asked him if he ever gets advice to go overseas from his former MU buddies. He said yeah and that some tell him to go to the NBaDL but he knows they don't pay enough. He said he's going where it's gonna be best.
Didn't spot Lazar in the CFO
Game 2 on right now....

just came in at 5:30 mark in 2nd
Seen him commit a couple turnovers.
Makes both free throws and ties it at end of 3rd.
edit..starts 4th with a flush for the lead
"Commits a quick foul. Sends Dominic James to the line but he's a good free throw shooter so that can always backfire."
hahhahah
heard that one too. but he was OK from the line today.
interesting last 1.7 seconds. sanders is a catch
Memphis last shot was after the buzzer. Should be OT.
Box score:

James did not get through that screen when he was guarding OJ Mayo. Not a good sign for someone whose strength will need to be on the ball defense. Maybe he did better than that play suggests, though, and OJ Mayo is a pretty good player. I am actually surprised Mayo is in summer league.
He can probably stay in front of most players in the league one on one, but he will likely get screened and not be able to close out very well on shooters and might have trouble with pick and rolls. This perhaps more than his FT shooting might keep DJ out of the NBA.
Just one play, and certainly not the highlight of DJ's play during the game. He had one rebound & foul over Thabeet that made the crowd happy. Reminded me of the block he made during the tenn game.
OJ had a pretty tepid game overall
Bulls win by 29 tonight (up 20 for most of the game) and Jerel didn't get in.
So far DJ has not really shown up in the box scores. I have watched over 90% of his play and he is definitely not looking for his shot....he very rarely goes for rebounds as he makes sure to get back on defense. He has had some unfortunate turnovers at the top of the key when doubled, but definitely not by being sloppy. He has definitely created a lot of opportunities slashing in to the interior. His ability to change speeds with the dribble is second to none! He can get to the lane at will, but it is apparent that he has to dish at the higher levels. There is no way he can finish consistently amongst the trees. His lack of size also comes up on the defensive end. He is a definite "bulldog" with his on ball pressure, but his lack of length really gets exposed on picks. The thing is, he has created loads of turnovers with his defense in these situations! He plays so close of pressure defense that half of the time the guy setting the pick gets called for an offensive foul for moving! It doesn't show up in the box score, but he has caused around a half dozen turnovers by drawing offensive fouls in these two games!!! If he ever makes the League, it will be based on his tenacious on ball defense! He has a place on the right team. It is worth noting that Dominic went from not on the Summer League team to playing by far the most minutes at PG......and all minutes in crunch time! He is a true PG that gives his all on defense and his athleticism allows him to be very effective! Hopefully his NBA dreams will come true someday!!! The alternative isn't so bad either, travel the world and make money playing a game you love! Shine on you crazy diamond! ;D
If anyone watched tonight's Summer League game of Bulls vs. Clippers, you saw John Lucas take advantage of his opportunity to impress. Compare Lucas and DJ and tell me which of the two free agents you'd like to see running on the point for your team.

John Lucas III was on the Bucks summer team a couple of years ago. He is a fringe NBA player that could have a good role on the right team. I remember some articles about him working with the Bucks coaches on his shot to great avail. It would be good to see him make it because he seemingly works very hard on improving his game....not a type that has all of the natural ability, but blows it with laziness!
I agree with DomJamesToTheBasket. His D has been impressive especially when matched with a talent like OJ Mayo. With the way the Bucks play under Skiles it may be enough to get him into preseason and then if he can ever get his shot going...maybe he can make it as the 3rd point guard/15th man.
Mayo is playing summer ball to sharpen his skills at point guard. He was moved from the 2 to the 1 late last season.....and Memphis wants to keep him at the 1 in the comming year.
