Summer Hoops and Show Me the Money

UPDATED

Jonesing for some Marquette Basketball?  Well, there are still several weeks to go on the Milwaukee Summer Pro-Am (http://milwaukeeproam.com/).  Several posters attended the games, and you can check out the informal scouting reports here (http://www.muscoop.com/index.php?topic=21011.0;all).  Heck, even GoMarquette.com had a report on the games (http://www.gomarquette.com/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/071010aaa.html).  You can see the box scores for each game here (http://milwaukeeproam.com/Results.html).

However, for those involved with the pro-am, could we get a collection of turnovers and offensive rebounds in the box scores?  Yeah, I know that it's a pro-am game and summer ball and blah blah blah.  But all of the rest of the box score stats aren't very informative without some sort of frame of reference for the total possessions used (and wasted).*  Of course, that's a minor quibble when there is hoops that could be watched.  Just keep it in mind when you see that Player X had 18 points.

*I'm really just annoyed because the box scores don't allow us to generate tempo-free stats.

Here is the video recap from GoMarquette.com

The next set of games are Friday night and Saturday morning at Homestead High School in Mequon.  Admission is free to the public.

Back on the Marquette Alumni news, we forgot to mention that Dominic James is working out with the Bucks this summer (http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/bucks.html).  Best of luck to DJ as he continues to chase his dream.  The transformation of his game his senior season, including his suffocating, I-will-crush-your-soul defense, made me a big fan for a long time.  In other news, congratulations to Wesley Matthew.  The Portland Trail Blazers signed him to a five-year, $34 million deal (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=5370235).  The Utah Jazz still have the opportunity to match.  But either way...

The 1:50 mark is extremely encouraging.

Otule was actually calling for the ball down low during the game.  I'd never seen him do that before and I was pretty pumped that he was comfortable enough to want the ball :)

Those stands should be full!
Paying NO money to watch essentially MU basketball > paying money to watch woeful Brewer baseball!

Great way to reach out to local and state prospects. An induction to MU bkb in some way.

Does Homestead High School in Mequon allow me to cook some brats and burgers and toss a ball around in the parking lot while getting quite intoxicated and ultimately stumbling into the game?  ;D

I wouldn't bring alcohol into a high-school parking lot.  Where I grew up those "school zone" laws were pretty restrictive.
