Much has been made back and forth of the quitting/jettisoning/transferring/leaving...etc. of players. Fans of different schools have labeled these actions a Creaning, BOning, and most recently Buzz-cutting. However, upon further review they actually are not the same actions, based on past history they are actually quite different. I actually see them as such:
Creaning- The process by which a coach jettisons a non D1 player in an attempt to upgrade the program's talent, only to replace said player with one of equal or lesser talent.
BO-ning- the act of rescinding a scholarship from a tall white stiff in an effort to give it to another tall white stiff. (works best if both players are from the Superior National Forest and have never played against anyone over 6'2")
Buzzcutting- the action of upgrading a program over 2 short years of one with 3 high major D1 players to one of 10. The removal of non Top 100 players to provide space for Top 100 players.
Now that the definitions are clear please do not use them in the wrong context going forward.
This post made me chuckle. Well done.
