Hmmm.... :)
yikes, let the speculation begin.
Hopefully, the young man can find someplace that will help him grow as a person and player.
A few weeks ago, IWB mentioned that there would be more news to share on the recruiting end. I wonder if it is related to this?
He's signed up to play in the local Pro/Am summer league. Not sure if we can really read anything into that yet.

I know just the place.
I can't help but wonder if this is part of the cryptic "good news" that some supposedly in-the-know posters have mentioned. Just like I wondered yesterday if Noreen's announcement meant that the awaited "good news" wouldn't be coming after all.

Allow me to.
Jamil Wilson will transfer to Marquette and will be eligible for the 2011-2012 season.
Now that I have lit the rumor fuse I will walk away...
If he's coming to Marquette, he could have this done by early next week, since 2nd session of MU summer school I believe starts Monday or Tuesday of next week.
His orginial final four, in case anyone was wondering, included Texas and Michigan State. Wonder if someone down in Bloomington desperate for talent would give him a call ;)

What does twitter have to say about this?

I had forgotten it was IWB. For the life of me I couldn't remember who made that post (http://www.muscoop.com/index.php?topic=20594.msg215070#msg215070) about "something to be excited about." Just yesterday I was searching for the post because I was curious if Noreen's announcement meant that there would not be good news coming. The second line of IWB's post answers that question for me.
I'm sure this will annoy some posters on this board, but in light of the fact that IWB was the poster I was trying to recall in my earlier post, I will withdraw the "supposedly" from my "supposedly in-the-know" comment. I trust that IWB is "in-the-know" on a lot of things. If only BMA would post in this thread...

So, who is going to prep school?
He usually posts info right after I do.
Noreen never had anything to do with the 'good news'.

Wilson would have to sit out the year.
so, no one?

Transfers count >:(
If he transfers to MU, he still takes up a scholarship.
Doesn't the NCAA make exceptions for transfers who decide to leave after a head coaching change? Or is that just for incoming recruits?

That 2011/2012 group becomes amazing:
Blue/Junior/Smith
DJO/Newbil
Wilson/JonesCrowder/Williams
Otule/GardnerThat's a great 8 man rotation.
Add in a big man or two in the next class and we have a legit contending team
It's not legit, until we see a twit.

I have a source that call me and said Wilson is coming to Marquette in 2 to 3 days.
Not that I have legit sources, but a hardcore alumni called today about a transfer before this popped on MUscoop.
So is this a good thing?

If someone doesn't qualify etc, it is... but that is just my opinion... and there are several caveats... like will he work hard?

NO, IMHO. I like the current roster and don't want to see somebody pushed out.
We'll take him.

There might not be a push. Until I see that all our incoming recruits are qualified, there could always be an opening.
Wilson, with a year to further develop, could be a huge force. If he buys into the culture, watch out.

I suspect you wont' be alone in that opinion, of course it would depend who was leaving.
I saw him play 3 or 4 times this year in Pac Ten games. Very much a freshman. Had some moments that were really good and your typical freshman moments. Sitting down a year I think will help him immensely, wherever he decides to attend school.
Could Wilson go prep and then come in his junior year and play right away? He replaces J-May nicely.

True, but it would seem the top two candidates to go prep are Smith and Newbill and people allegedly in the know on this board have stated both will be here this summer.

Just an alumni with longtime season tickets. Retired and is obsessed. Not sure if he has connections but the fact that he knew about a big time transfer and this pops up seems more than coincidental.

or will Crowder's JUCO credits all transfer?
He could pull a Maymon and pay his own way the first year he transfers. That would not effect the current team scholarship situation.
Bilsu... u sure? cuz that would be pretty awesome IMO immediate replacement for Butler as it seems Crowder is for Hayward

Maymon only had to pay for a semester, approximately $18,000.
One year of room and board at MU is $38,000...not everyone has that kind of money available.
Buzz has always said, somebody was going to prep school. He tells the truth, somebody
might still be. I was not impressed in the few times I watched Oregon. In saying that, a
year off to improve can do wonders for someones game. Hopefully that is the case on Otule,
time will tell. At least he has some size!

Yeah, that won't get us in any trouble.
Maybe Crean can adopt him.
Don't be naive'. Neither Maymon nor Wilson will pay one cent for any part of their education.
Did he get Altmaned?
I watched him in the Pac 10 tourney for a game and it just looked like he wasn't really on option on offense. He seemed to have a lot of athleticism and would go for rebounds hard, but just didn't really get the ball on offense. He has so much athletic ability that with sitting out a year and working on his game, I think he could be very good. Buzz has always said there is someone going to prep school and that they know. I asked IWB after Mbao's transfer if someone is still going the prep route and he said it didn't change anything. So I really don't think someone is going to be pushed out.

I was just pointing out another possibility. I know nothing about what is actually happening.
