Title: Chris Otule vs. NCAA Bylaw 14.2.4
Post by: Benny B on June 28, 2010, 02:07:12 PM
I haven't heard anything on Otule's medical redshirt in a while... If he is making the application, I would assume something has been filed by now... how long before the NCAA makes a decision?

More importantly... does anyone think something like this would be a distraction since the decision wouldn't affect his eligibility for 2010-11 either way?

And in the most recent episode of Marquette Basketball Revealed (http://www.gomarquette.com/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/090710aaa.html), his magnet is navy blue -- the color that Buzz is using for the sophomores.  Not definitive, but hopefully a good sign.

I also just saw that in the  2010-2011 Preseason Information sheet (http://grfx.cstv.com/photos/schools/marq/sports/m-baskbl/auto_pdf/10-11_prospectus.pdf) they have his class listed as "RSo."  I'm going to go out on a limb and assume that means Redshirt Sophomore.  Not sure if that's official, but another good sign.

(I'm going to feel like an idiot of there was a thread I missed where it was definitively stated that Otule's redshirt was approved.)

The NCAA does not make the decision. The Big East conference does. However, the Big East Conferences's decision could be appealed to the NCAA.
