Chris Driscoll is now on Keno Davis' staff. His main qualification seems to be his connection to prized recruits in the Boston area. Is it a common practice to hire an assistant AAU coach to a college staff?
Not common but not unprecedented, seems to be a few of these type of hires each year many times of the director of bb operations or video positons.
I would think you would hire to strengthen your weakness. A head coach that is strong in coaching needs to hire someone who is strong in recruiting. A head coach whose strength is recruitng needs to hire an assistant who is strong on coaching. No matter what you need a strong head recruiter.
It happens, but the school they now work for will not be able to sign any player associated with that coach. Lavin hired Moe Hicks as his DOBO, former NYC HS and AAU coach.

What do you do when you're a head coach whose primary strengths seem to be recruiting players of dubious character and riding your father's coattails?
