Title: Draft Thread
Post by: goodgreatgrand on June 24, 2010, 06:53:17 PM
The 1 and 2 picks went as expected. I think Favors will be good in New Jersey/Brooklyn.

Good balk at the bluff by Minnesota. Wanted Johnson all along and waited for him to come instead of trading up.

Back-to-back draft. Back-to-back lottery picks. Teammates. Johnson-Flynn. Wonder when the last time that happened was...

If Brandon Knight goes No.1 next year, Calipari will have placed two PG's at the top spot in consecutive years.

"Hi, my name's John Calipari. You're a great h.s. PG. How would you like to run my team for a year? Ill get you to the NBA, no problem. Just sign here and you'll be the next Wall or Knight."

Even I would play for that scum bag with that type of pitch.

Udoh is a really good fit for the WARRIORS of Golden State, if they're still committed to playing that wide-open Nellie-ball.  Don't think Cousins will be a bust, I am thinking Favors might be a more dicey pick.  That NJ team is awful, whereas Sacramento has a good PG with Tyreke Evans.

There's no doubt the guy is a sleazebag. He actually just said that today is the greatest moment in Kentucky's history. Not the 7 NCAA Championships, no of course not. This is the "Let's celebrate Calipari for being such a great player's coach night" so obviously it's something that no petty NCAA tournament could possibly amount to.

He can make that pitch, but is it really all that convincing of a pitch? Wall has long been considered the number one pick and I think he would have gone #1 with almost any coach. Obviously Cal was his coach and he went number one and Call did nothing to screw him up, but I would hope kids would see through the perception that Cal is making these kids into lottery picks. He just gets the top guys in their class.

But you have to understand that no blue chip recruit wants to play more than one year of college. I actually like Josh Selby simply for his honestly..."Any top high school player is lying if they say they dont want to be a one-and-done and a lottery pick. I want to be a one-and-done and go to the NBA. It's every kid's dream."

So true. Calipari has the momentum. He'll continue to do it.

Gordon Hayward = Mike Dunleavy.

At least he didnt go as high as Dunleavy did.

Yea I'm not saying they don't want be one and done, just that Calipari is not the reason these guys are getting drafted number 1 and being one and done. If they are good enough to be number one after one and done, they are good enough to do that for any coach I think. I might be totally wrong and overlooking the job Calipari has done. Although, he can point to Rose and now Wall, so he has empirical evidence to use, so I can't blame a kid for going to play for him with that mind set.

So far I like Udoh to Golden State, very athletic shot blocker and rebounder.

Kirk Heinrich trade to Wizards is interesting, what happens to Gilbert Arenas now????

Now just need the mute button for Stuart Scott.  Between him and Chris Berman (he is taking a break from talking so much on U.S Open telecast)......jeeezz.

I don't know about that.  Dunleavy could never play in the post like Hayward, he was/is basically a spot up shooter only.  I think GHayward fits Utah perfectly, he's kind of an under-the-radar, fundamentally sound, versatile player that Jerry Sloan loves.  He can do pick-and-roll, post-up, and he can shoot.  I think he's a good pick for that team.

Its now official. You can throw every single mock draft away with the pick of the French kid (most had him in the mid-20's).

I agree with that, but I think bledsoe will be a close second. I just don't understand the hype with this kid. He is a terrible shooter, and not nearly as explosive as wall or rose. He is too small to be a 2 in the NBA, and not good enough to be a point imo. He should've stayed another year or two, but of course that's not really an option at kentucky it seems.

Good pick for the Bucks.  They can still nab a good center prospect in the second as well as a guard, hopefully Jordan Crawford if we're lucky and maybe a shooter.  Perhaps Lazar?  Although Zar would really need to compete to get minutes in the rotation.

Hahaha...Durant did not look happy with the Pontdexter pick. Since mock drafts had him as a late second round pick.

He has the potential, but it could go either way with him.  And lol at Durant on the Pondexter pick.

I think Jordan Crawford could be a very, very good player in the league..and at this point, whoever gets him, is getting a steal.  He's similar to another Crawford - Jamal...great range, instant offense, great quicks/creativity.  Love his game.  Not afraid to take big shots.  clutch player..surprised he's still available..

He just got picked, but might get traded. I was hoping the Bucks would take him or Anderson. He put on a show at the BC for the tourney.

Since he went to the Nets, I guess we can cross off LeBron going there, unless he wants to get dunked on every day in practice. ;)

Udoh is a bust and the exact pick you expect a terrible organization like the warriors to pick. I hear joe Dumars sent them a huge thank you gift basket. Already 23 and has no offensive game and is an overrated defender. Athlete with no basketball skills.
