As you can imagine, the USC story out here is huge (so much for the people that said USC would get a hand slap). At any rate, they have been interviewing the journalist from Yahoo Sports who broke the story 5 years go for his reactions to the end game.
What struck me as most interesting was the part on college hoops. He went in to great detail about the OJ Mayo stuff and college basketball in general. I'm paraphrasing, but essentially he said that college basketball corruption makes college football look like YMCA league. He said the amount of money passing hands, the AAU crap, the speaking engagement fees, the delivery of players to certain programs is so grotesque compared to college football.
It was not pretty. I don't know how much hyperbole was there, but he really went off on the sport and literally painted every DI major school and conference as guilty....it was quite the interview.
"In major college basketball, nine out of 10 teams break the rules. The other one is in last place."

I am surprised he thinks basketball is so much worse. I always thought SEC football (and much of the Big 12) recruiting had to mirror USC.
Basketball is a cesspool too. Blatant Calipari-like cheating and then tons of cut corners and rules bended.
You have to throw in "cheatervest" from Ohio State as well. They are no better than the scum of the SEC.
I don't follow football recruiting at all, but I assume they don't have anything like the AAU circuit, which is the source for much of the slime in basketball.

That was his point, that there are not middle men in college football like there are with basketball. No summer leagues, etc. Sure, there are one off agents that do stuff, but nothing like AAU and the absolute dirtiness that follows college hoops. It was quite the radio interview.
