Wow. That would be huge for the Big 10.

I could certainly see Mizzou or KSU, or even KU going to the SEC with OU.

Does this make it more appealing for ND to jump now?

This could be great news for the Big East.  So much for Oklahoma and Oklahoma State being joined at the hip.  Getting only two of the Big 12 teams they wanted so far, what does the Pac 10 do? The Mountain West had better lookout. Does Texas Tech go Pac 10 or does it offer to be Oklahoma's partner in joining the SEC?  So that's why Texas and Texas A&M were meeting today without Texas Tech.  Damn, did the Big Ten get Texas to agree to share revenue equally?  With at most two Big Ten spots still open, how long can ND wait?  Will the Big Ten next go after a Big East team in a last ditch effort to shake ND loose?

If I was KU I'd be waving my hand around saying "ME ME ME, OOOOOO, ME ME ME" to Oklahoma right now.

don't count on the Big 10 for A&M and UT ....

http://twitter.com/ChipBrownOB

"There's a Kansas City TV report saying Texas and A&M to the Big Ten. That would be news to those schools."

Chip broke the story initially, FWIW

Wow, didnt see this one coming.  I thought i would have been great to see both Texas and USC in the same conference.  Instead they are going to the most boring football conference in the country.  Hopefully they will make it more appealling to watch!

The SEC with Oklahoma, Florida, LSU, Auburn, Tennessee, Georgia, South Carolina....  Plus a B-12 partner school.

Now that is a football conference.

Notre Dame must be getting nervous now. Just read somewhere that the last two spots in the B10 will likely be a combination of ND, Rutgers, Syracuse. I think ND has to join....even Holtz (on espn today) said the school needs a conference.

..and...7 0f 9 poll voters on my thread below voted that Big ten was due to stop at Nebraska and stay at 12 teams only-- polls are open until 8pm...lol

Not to mention a certain defending national champion.

If the Big Ten ends up with both Notre Dame and Texas, the two schools most notorious about wanting to keep as much of their revenue as they can without sharing, it will end up being a true masterstroke by Delaney.  I can't see the Big Ten allowing uneven sharing of revenue, but by getting both of them and A&M, I can see how the Big Ten could make the argument that they will be better off then they would be as independents or as suns with 9 or so lesser schools who would allow them to hog revenue orbiting around them.

It already was.  Remove OU and it's still solid.  And you forgot Alabama.  And Ole' Miss, Miss St, and Arkansas have their good years.

The SEC is the best football conference out there.

the whole thing sounds really suspicious though.  i never thought i would see an arrangement where OK and TX split up, and then on top of that, OK splits with OK ST?  such a loss of tradition and rivalry in this mess. depending on how much truth are to these, it seems like each school went totally on their own and it just led to almost random results

That's the part I don't understand (actually I don't understand a lot of this, as I have not been paying close attention)...If the B10 needs another team or two, wouldn't they do everything possible to make that team Oklahoma? Likewise, were OU going to the SEC, isn't OSU an extremely logical 'partner?'

Controlled, competitive bidding gets the seller the best "price"....why not get multiple conferences ask for your hand in marriage?

In a couple years I find that schools will find their decisions to be rash and not very well thought out as it seems that many schools decisions are being urgently made to avoid being left out by their lonesome.

Hell no, Oklahoma does not meet the Big Ten president's academic profile.  Nebraska did fit the profile (an established research university), so they got the small market, big national following spot for the Big Ten.

They would be, but have they already accepted the Pac 10 offer?

I also doubt that OU (and OSU) want to seperate themselves from Texas.  A huge percentage of their students come from the DFW area.

Does Notre Dame want to be in a conference with two other Indiana schools? I think, if the ACC only loses Virginia Tech, then Notre Dame joins ACC.

People forget, but Notre Dame has had an open offer to join the ACC for decades...so it is a possibility.

Notre Dame is really only an "Indiana school" because it's campus is located there.

ACC would be the best fit for ND.  Plus growing markets in the south.  However, couldn't ND just form a new conference if the SEC raids the ACC?  That would be ideal for ND, to put together a Syracus or Rutgers and North Carolina, Duke... etc.  Would seem to fit ND more than the Big 10 where they would be an odd duck.

He actually said "Schtool" so I'm not sure if he was referring to his BM's or ND (is there a difference?)
