Looks like March probably will get a little easier for everyone else without Izzo's magic guiding MSU...
First order of business resurrect his 2000 MSU team and say goodbye to that LeBron fellow. He looks much better in a Bulls jersey anyway.
Any chance that Crean signs on with Izzo as an assistant?

I bet a lot of people in Bloomington, Indiana are wondering the same thing.
I would have to assume that if Izzo takes this job he got some sort of information/confirmation that Lebron is staying in Cleveland. If Lebron isn't, this is a terrible move for Izzo (probably is anyway).
its hard for a move to be terrible any time it doubles your salary...

At his age, that could cut in half his time to retirement.
$3Million is enough. If he goes, in 5 years he will be just another failed college coach who's abilities did not translate to the NBA and he will be looking for a college job.

I don't agree with that, but even if its true, who cares? He'll ride his pile of money to another multi-million dollar contract with a college program that needs a big hire. He will never have a problem getting a job back in college, so what's the risk? The fact is, almost all of these guys who make the jump to the NBA and fail (Calipari, Pitino, Montgomery, Floyd (other issues aside), O'Neill, Kruger...) land on their feet back in the college game.
Do you think Lebron James thinks $20 million is enough? No matter what you make it is human nature to want more. Besides that, I do not know how many kids Izzo has, but it may be more about leaving them and grandkids set for life than what Izzo needs himself.

No they're not. They've had nothing but turnover there the last 5 years. Most fans do not want that, a few lunatics on the message boards do.

Dare I say, DePaul and their 3 million dollar offer?

The Hoosier faithful can wonder all they want but Tommy Boy won't be on MSU's short list. Too bad Crean blinked 2 years too early. Had he left MU now for the Spartans, Warrior fans would be understanding of the move.
Crean went from Uptown to the basement and lies there instead of going directly to the Penthouse. Too bad he got greedy and bolted MKE. I, of course, wish he had left right after the FF debacle.

I agree but how can you call the FF year a debacle? Not following the wording --- unless you're just looking at the Kansas game itself. People remember Dwayne Wade's triple double against Kentucky and Marquette being in the Final Four more than they will remember getting blown out against Kansas. Either way, you're spot on with Crean's timing, but you can never plan when "premier" jobs open up. Grass isn't always greener Tommy Boy. And the name Indiana won't guarantee you a top 25 recruiting class year in and year out like it used to under Knight. Good thing for Marquette, the name "Buzz" has shown the ability to do that (fingers crossed).
Mr behind the scenes, viz LBjames, Worldwide Wes Wesley registered , in May, w/ncaa and nba as agent for coaches---is he agent/buddy of Izzo?
If so, this may be real and a tipoff LBJ stays in Cle for his extra $30 mil in "Bird" money
What would this do for our chances to land Dawson?
i dont mean to hijack, but a question tangentially related to the LBJ sweepstakes. what is the max contract/yr in the NBA? by that I mean that if you wanted to sign a one year deal only, what is the most it could be for? is it just divide the max deal by the max number of years its usually for? does the maximum allowable amount change every year?
Izzo in Clev. talking contract terms, and MSU blogs report his players are saying that he told them he is taking the job. He is going to NBA--wow
Spice question..
....IF TC never left MU, and HE was still here, do you think he would have been No.1 target/candidate for his dream job at MSU, ...yes MSU (its rumored even his IU contract has an out in it, allowing him to jump, w/o penalty if job is at MSU)
ESPN was already mentioning Crean as a possible replacement for Izzo...MU and IU may soon be able to make tanning jokes together
Well, IF MSU is interested, I would say there is a darn good chance Crean takes it...walks out of a spot where the presure to show results is mounting, and right into a FF caliber roster (probably a good bet someone on the Izzo tree gets the job, and I'm not sure that may not even be a small factor in his decision to go...doubles his money and helps out a buddy at the same time).
with Kansas possibly being left out with the breakup of the Big 12, when do the Bill Self to MSU rumors begin if Izzo bolts for the Cavs?

Exactly. This move has zero downside risk for Izzo. And people don't also understand his mindset. Does he feel that he needs a new challenge? Does he tire of recruiting? It's easy for many of us to say "why would he leave?" but we have no idea what drives the guy.
Interesting move for Izzo. Unlike Pitino and Calapari and others who show up in the NBA and fail, Izzo's team will likely have LeBron. The Cavs can return the same team basically and win 60 games in the east.
I hope Izzo stays at Michigan Sate. He is great for the college game. I think his crying to the players would get old for the NBA players.

If? C'mon... this is MSU and Tom Crean we're talking here. If Izzo makes the jump, I'll give anyone 1,000 to 1 that Crean is the first person "interviewed."
1,000 to 1? I'm in for $20.

I would take that any day... gonna be an internal interview first.
Why is this topic in the Al?
I have no idea about the actual contract but i would have a hard time believing that the contract that little bitch signed with IU would allow for him to go to MSU or anyother Big ten job.
Gregory, Boylen or someone else not Crean (another b10 coach)

You could have just stopped there
Crean is last Friday's fish dinner. His performance in Bloomington has given him that tainted stink of failure. It was there while at Marquette but he was always spraying himself with Dwyane Wade cologne to mask the putrid odor of mediocrity.
