Sorry for the mobile link. I'm stuck on my iPhone and couldn't get the full site link. If true I wonder what this means for the other conferences. Should be interesting to hear what they say on Friday.

personally i think it is pretty simple.  nebraska gives the B10 there coveted 12th.  further members dilutes revenue sharing.  B12 adds TCU or Colorado state.  and everything is done.  Just my opinion  but i continue to think this overblown cataclysmic chicken little reaction is entirely overblown.  Even if Missouri and Nebraska go maybe even ND.  the Big 12 adds a couple most likely TCU and CSU or two simialr teams and the BE adds one or doesnt.

Just hope the Big 12 does not look to Louisville or Cincy if Mizzou and Neb leave but the TX/OK schools stays.

You think it's that simple.  Well, I'd expect nothing less

So I guess everyone is assuming that the PAC10 cant entice at least two schools to join?

The thing about the Pac10 exapansion is that their comissioner said he only wanted to add 'in pairs.'

The Big Ten is going to add more than one...they accelerated the timeline because the Big 12 forced them to.  The real issue is how serious the Pac Ten is about the Big 12 South.

Good luck with that thinking.

So, I'm going to deduct from your post that you have seen the William Blair feasability study first-hand.

Or not.

'Deduce' is the word you were looking for.

It's entirely possible that seismic shift doesn't happen, that ND only adds ND and everything else simmers.  That would be a "simple outcome", but even if that were to transpire, nothing about this is simple at all.

I've spoken to two DI ADs this week that are good friends of mine and this whole thing is absolutely chaotic.  There is nothing simple about any of it.  So many crazy possibilities all dependent on what domino falls and where.  Nothing simple at all, at least not at this stage.  Very chaotic, very scary for some of these programs.  Everyone is trying to make plans as best they can

I just spoke to a former co-worker who is pretty high up in a D1 Big Ten athletic department.  This is pretty much what he laid out for me:

--The Big Ten really wants Notre Dame first and foremost.  If they could have had ND, they *may* have stopped with expansion right then and there.

--The Big Ten's second choice is Nebraska.  Since the Big 12 is forcing a decision from Nebraska, and since ND continues to hem and haw, the Big Ten is going to extend the invitation now because they'd rather have Nebraska than neither of them.  The problem being that ND might not want to join a conference larger than 12.  (This is the reason Delany is pissed.  He was giving ND more time to make a decision.)

--If ND says no, the Big Ten may end at 12 teams.  Or it may go back to its original timetable and research whether or not adding two to four additional teams would be worthwhile.  Rutgers, Pitt, Mizzou, et. al. will still be there.  (And in fact the conference's bargaining position could be considerably stronger six to 12 months from now.)

What happened to the Big Ten only taking top academic schools?  Last ranking I read, Nebraska was ranked like 110th in the country for undergrad.  Oh, I am sure it is a research university and meets all their other supposed criteria, but I do find it interesting it will be the worst rated school academically.

I have not been a basher of Big Ten basketball like some around here but those who are bashers are going to have a field day with this addition.  Nebraska basketball ranked 290th in tempo according to Pomeroy.

To be clear, nothing has been officially announced by any conference, right?

I agree with The Big Ten presidents, chancellors, or whomever overruled Delaney, they couldn't miss out on their second choice so that ND could dither.  Especially after ND committed (or seemed to) once and backed out.  If ND realizes later that it needs a conference affiliation later where else can it go but the Big Ten?  The Big East can't offer ND football enough, and the SEC would be a real reach geographically.  The Big Ten can sit and wait on ND, and they don't have to do it by holding the number 12 spot open.
