A bit ago everybody thought somebody was going to leave or not qualify academically. Did that come to pass after Mbao left or are we still oversigned right now?
Right now we are at the limit. However we are apparently still recruiting and a number of reports suggest that something may happen soon. If that is the case, someone else would have to leave via transfer or prep school.
Just curious where you have heard something will be happening soon. I've heard we are still recruiting, just haven't heard anything in awhile with names or that anything was imminent. I've been kind of curious as to who we have been recruiting for the last spot since it sounds like someone is still going prep school even though Mbao left.
I know that Jamail is def in Milwaukee already, and Davante is on his way. Does anybody know if Jae, Reggie, and Newbill are there yet?
In the "Kevin Noreen Still Undecided" thread, IWB said:
"Sorry to the Scoop posters from my brief appearance and rant, before long I will give everyone something to be excited about."
I took that to mean that some sort of announcement was going to be made, but maybe I'm reading too much into it.
Jae won't be here until July.
Vander hasn't even finished his school year yet, and then has Team USA tryouts. If he doesn't make it, he'll be here by the end of June. If he makes it he won't be here until July.

Now that you mention that, I remember that quote and thought that something was happening soon as well. Thanks.
It might just be that he's just going to post pictures of naked broads.
Those tryouts for Vander in San Antonio? and say Noreen signed... how would he function on this team? second behind Otule at the 5?

Noreen ain't coming to MU...waiting on an ACC waiver on his BC LOI release and hoping UNC has a spot for him at the end of the cake walk music.

I don't think so. I see Noreen as a 4 who causes matchup problems like Novak with his perimeter shot, and ball handling.
We've heard from DJ Newbill's coach that DJ will be here in July, and that everything is in order with his SAT, GPA, etc. From the last reports I heard, Gardner had not yet qualified - granted everyone has to go through the Clearinghouse - but from the reports I heard, as of the time he signed...I don't believe he'd yet obtained required SAT scores. If a player were to prep...it would seem it has to be Smith (and there has been speculation regarding his current qualification status) or Gardner....which would open up the additional slot for a new 2010 recruit.
So Vander, Jamail, Newbill, and Jae are all good? Facebook is nothing to rely on but Gardner's more recent statuses seem to indicate that all is well, and explicitly address grades. Hopefully we dodge a bullet I don't want anyone in this class to leave.

Not yet qualified, but he put this on his FaceBook last night...

A friend then asked if he was on his way now, and Gardner replied "Yea". If he is the guy who allegedly knew he was going to prep school, he's not giving any clues of it. Like jhags, I'm hoping all these guys qualify for next year.
Per ESPN's insider, as of yesterday, MU is still at the top of (or at least on, if the order is meaningless) Noreen's list.
ESPN seems to be wrong with alot of recruiting issues. I don't really rely on it too much

It'd be nice, but I agree with the above post of him waiting for ACC... in particular UNC.
We shouldn't hold our breathe on this one fellas
According to this article, Noreen has gone to Oregon and will soon be heading to Washington and Washington -frickin'- State.

Anybody want to go in on the "Noreen World Tour" t-shirts???
Forget about Noreen. He isn't coming.
Buzz knows best, but I think he should start recruiting for next class. He cannot fix our big man issues in one swipe. I say replace Butler with a swing man and Fulce with a banger, maybe even another JUCO PF like Fulce. Get similar players as they are. Then, replace Buycks with a big man project to even out the positions on the team in 2011-2012. Then the roster is pretty well balanced.

You dont think Buzz is recruiting for the 2011, 2012 classes and beyond? If you dont think he is, then you dont have a clue.

Thanks for giving me a clue. I don't get why people feel the need to act like this is CNN crossfire. I really don't like participating in that kind of stuff. Just wanna talk hoops and Marquette. I don't come on here to try to prove my intelligence and I really, really, really don't appreciate comments like that.

Thanks. That is exactly what I was saying and I could have inserted an only so it said "start only recruiting for..." but I think the gist of it is pretty obvious.
These types of little zingers throw off good discussions and accomplish nothing. If someone has the amount of posts I have, then it is fairly obvious that I have at least seen Dawsen or Tokoto threads. Number of posts doesn't predict the quality of posts, but it should suggest that you have been on here. Scrutinize what I or other posters say all you want. Keep the context on basketball please is all I ask. I find it very distaracting when people nitpick little stuff or make personal attacks on other posters.
I don't think message boards should be about proving your intelligence or tossing meaningless zingers back and forth. It is not my message board and people should do what they want. If you want to throw zingers, fine. It does mess up threads for the people who just want to talk hoops and Marquette in my opinion, but I will live with it. I just don't want to be a part of the distraction, so please nitpick other people.
It is June and there is not much to talk about I guess.

+1. The arrogance by some of these posters is incredible at times. At least you don't get "worst post of the year" comments. It's ok to disagree but what is the point of making statements like "you don't have a clue" when there was no personal attack at all in the first place.

These aren't clever zingers. I don't criticize other people's back and forths because I guess people come onto message boards for other reasons besides just talking about MU and basketball. All I am saying is that there are people on this board who just want to talk about the topic at hand. The people who feel the need to prove their intelligence or wit through zingers mess it up for the people who just want to discuss hoops.

I disagree. You used the word start, and got called out, then you spent the next 3 posts whining about people jumping on people.
Let it go man, it is all in fun... its the effing internet for God's sake.
In the end we are all on the same team.

Im just making a point that there is no point in nitpicking people's posts. No one re-reads his or her posts for spelling or grammar. It throws off the flow of the conversation, and I know that I am doing it now, but it's June and I have been so sick of this since I started reading this board. People come on this board for lots of reasons, and I can appreciate people wanting throw zingers out there. But some people just want to talk hoops.
And yes, it is just the effing internet for God's sake. That is all I have trying to say all along. It is all supposed to be fun and it usually is, people just don't need to be a-holes if we are all on the same team. I can handle zingers, but they lead to tangents this one and it ruins it for everyone.
And again, I appreciate the irony that I am hi-jacking a thread in order to complain about people hi-jacking threads. I apologize for that, but I just want people to be aware that not everyone comes onto this board for the same reasons. I respect anyone's reason, but would like to see less threads killed with pissing matches.
I agree, people just need to let stuff go like you said and I have thought that for a long time. I don't think I am the one who needs that lesson.

You realize that *you're* the one that completely derailed the thread, right? All because you're making a big deal about a silly anonymous comment on the internet. Just ignore it if you don't like it. No reason to derail threads with your rambling.
Thing is, the subject of Hoops' post is legit.
The "hard guys"--pun intended--on this board, any board, just kill me. Do people give you an "attaboy" privately when you zing somebody? Does it elevate your mood? Is there some sort of tough guy award given to the most abusive posters?
People say "it's just the internet--deal with it." I'm like Malone. I'd rather not.
Tough crowd today - As Malone pointed out..with 800+ posts, he's likely very well aware that we are recruiting Tokoto, Dawson, etc..so he is aware that we've already been focusing on 2011/2012. Though he did say "start" focusing on next year, we are really nitpicking the dude's post. I read it as instead of trying to sign another 2010 player, lets focus on all the talent available for the 2011 class (and save the scholarship)..versus (spending the schollie) on the limited talent supply left currently in the 2010 crop.
Ahh..the off season..

if you don't like it, the ignore button is right there for you.
It doesn't elevate my mood, and expect it back from people on the board. Unlike others, apparently, I can handle a nice ribbing.
I'm sorry from now on, no more jokes, just straight information.... HA!
Davante's grades and scores are in order, and he will be here in the summer
The only comment I have is that the 2010-2011 season is the future.

No one wants to end good spirited humor. I probably should have let your train comment go as it was funny. It just allowed me to make a broader point about people acting tough on the internet and nitpicking posts for grammar. It is very, very, very annoying.
There is a big difference between a good natured ribbing and being an a-hole though. Jokes keep the thread flowing and add to it, while being an a-hole hi-jacks the thread and adds nothing.
