Title: Season Ticket Help
Post by: CrazyEcho on June 02, 2010, 08:39:41 PM
The other ticket thread got me thinking.

I know there are upper level season tickets available for under a hundred bucks.  I was wondering how a person goes about getting lower bowl season tickets.  Do you have to donate money?  If so, how much?  Also, what other benefits are there to being a season ticket holder?

All seats are given out on the points system.   If you have enough points, you can sit in the lower bowl.

You get points for a few non-monetary things, like MU degrees or athletic letters, as well as points for consecutive years of getting tickets.

But mostly, points are from donating.  $100 a point during reseating years, which are devalued to $250 a point after a year.

As of last year, the lowest average points for the WORST seats in the lower bowl was 27, row X-Z behind the basket.

So .. if you're new, and you graduated MU, you have 10 points, and are 17 away from getting the worst seats in the lower bowl.  $1700 will get you there quickly, but only for 2 years .. after which, those points will devalue.

It'll be interesting, since STH numbers of grown so much .. it'll be pretty tough to naturally proceed downstairs for new STHs.   I'd imagine it's nearly impossible to catch the people downstairs without substantial donations to catch up to them.

Other benefits to being a STH?  You get first crack at single game tickets.   That's about   it.   OH!  And you can be the Season Ticket Holder of the Game, which entitles you to a .. certificate.  So that's pretty super.

What do you have to do to get Jack to walk your butt out to mid-court? ;D

Jack's gone..., so now it's done by someone else. and I think you have to nominate yourself or something.  All I know is it is rare to see anyone really long term- at least it was until last season.

Is it true that if you renew a set of 4 season tickets or you were to renew 2 season tickets, you would still get 2 points a year for either situation?

You don't get points for the number of seats...just the cash donation if you purchased the $$ seats.  So, if you purchased 4 that require a donation, you get more points.  You also get points for number of consecutive years.  See link for the formula.

I'll answer that differently.  Yes, whether you buy 2 or 4 or 40 seats, you would still get 2 points a year for consecutively buying tickets.

I think what Blackheart was trying to say is that each seat also requires a donation.  That money is counted toward the $100 per point (depreciated to $250 per point later) lifetime total.   -- I can't remember the donation levels, I think it's something like $50/100/150/seat depending on where the seat is.

Basically, if you get two seats in the lower bowl corner, you must also donate $200, which goes into your lifetime donation total which gets you points.  If you bought 4 seats, it'd be $400 in donations = more points.

Thanks Topper for clarifying my wording...I wasn't trying to be so confusing but trying to make the point that some seats do not require a donation and some do.  You get points only for a donation, not the # of seats.  This may help to see if a donation is required or not for each seat.

this has reminded me that I carried four seats for many, many years because according to the system if I gave up two of them, then later wanted them back, I'd have to drop to the bottom of the list for the second two.  Then a few years ago it was decided that anyone can go from one seat up to four seats without dropping to the bottom!  So naturally, many of the people ahead of me decided to expand their seating to four and I (and many others) moved back in seating!  grrrrrrrr!  how unfair!!!
