Learn to spell Milwaukee! You suck!
Just kidding, wanted to make you feel like you belong. Welcome to the board.
Welcome! I'm eager to hear your insights and any information you have. D.J. seems like a great young kid and very talented player. Can't wait to see him this year.

Ditto. We'd enjoy you sharing all you can on DJ.
I was wondering-- its sure not his fault he did not play in the "biggest" level high school division, and nat'lly some scout services have seemed to handicap or place less creedence on his awesome numbers. I am of the opposite view --if you do all you can at your level and garner the numbers and awards he did-- he may be just as good as those 5 star guys....so...how do YOU think he'd have sized up if playing at same level and teams as the big name guys. (I am guessing/hoping he may be (along w/crowder) ..the most underrated and best of this class...in the long run
By the way my best/most favorite professor at MU was John Johannes-- he is now in Philly, teaching at Nova...a really wonderful mentor and friend
Johannes is actually VP of Academic Affairs

Five or six years ago when my daughter was was doing her college searches she brought home a Nova catalog and there was a full page pic of JJ in the first few pages.....brought back some good memories of classes I took with him "back in the day."

Any chance you could help out BP down in the gulf? Sounds like they need all the help they can get....
Welcome Philly! I still claim to be the only season ticket holder who commutes in from Alabama for games, but if you can crack tickets into Nova games that would sure help the guys to have a friendly voice! We hope he has a great career here and helps Marquette to much success.

Thanks, bud. I had him as a professor... but in his later years at MU, I think he advanced to Lib arts dean(?), and he told me he left MU in a bit of disagreement w/ Pres. Diolio(sp?), (mr golden eagle)--true?

Why ya gotta go there - esp when we don't want you to go there.
I was just saying we had a pipeline guy on the board - thought he might have some expertise.

Always disappointing to watch a reasonably productive thread get hijacked by someones political views.
Glad to have a philly connection on board.

Yes his bio says he was a Dean when he left....MU lost a number of great professors right after I graduated....the "Publish or Perish" mentality was going strong then and one of my mentors, Kent Kirwin was forced to leave the Poli Sci dept which took a big hit between P or P, retirement of some legends like Virgil Blum and Harry Kantor and defections to other schools like Robert Freedman. The English Dept was right behind them losing Jerome Thale to ND and Roger Mitchell to IU plus the retirements of Joseph Schwartz and John Pick....a very big brain drain in a few short years....all were outstanding teachers and even better people.
PHILLY COACH--Please tell us on DJ Newbill:
1) How is his defensive foot work, floor/positional awareness and recovery?
2) Offensively, how is he w/o the ball, first step quickness, patient or forces the action, involved or takes a play or two off?
3) Developmentally, is he teachable, asking for input, help, or fearful, and retreating from critique?
4) Physically, will he sprout, bulk up, or is he injury plagued/prone?
5) Overall, who, as to other players does he remind you of?
Not trying to get this off-topic, but speaking of professors I liked from back in the day, anybody have any idea where a Paul Bauer that taught in the English Department in the late 80s/early 90s ever ended up?
