Title: What will happen to MU in the NCAA Tourney??
Post by: LastWarrior on February 24, 2007, 05:25:00 PM
I hate asking this question because I had really high expectations for the team this year.  Barring an unforeseen turnaround, I don't see us winning more than one game in the NCAA Tourney and YES I will consider this season a letdown if that happens.

Now let's go and whoop Pitt at home next week in front of the National audience and show some Marquette spirit and pride!!

'last', I hate to say it, but I think our seeding will preclude any wins in the dance, but hope to God I'm wrong.

We'll drop in seedings and get paired with a similar team...leading me to predict ONE AND DONE.

I think we'll get one this year as long as our seed doesn't drop below 11.  But no Sweet 16 for this bunch.  I'd rather be an 11 than a 7 this year.  I'd want to avoid the top two seeds as long as possible this year.

They will lose at some point, we will all lament the lack of an inside game and outside shooting, we will kvetch some more for awhile, and then we will start discussing how good we will be next year.

Can anyone say Bubble?

As in many years in the past, Crean's teams burn out at the end of the season.

He was an embarassment to MU today.

Was Blackledge going to be the big man that we so needed?

Whereisal, does posting the same wrong thing in more than one thread add to your post total?

This team has been exposed for what it is and likely to be a 6-8 seed. From that point forward, any win would have to be unexpected.

I think we are hoping for a 7 seed right now so we can avoid a #1 in round 2.  We are a possible sweet 16 team.

about the potential game 2 opponent. It will take all MU has to advance to the second round. No way in hell, this team moves on to the Sweet 16.

Just so we're not so gloom and doom, if this team gets hot, we're a very, very good team.  If DJ finds his shot, Ooze finds his hands, Lazar finds consistency, and Fitz finds his b*lls, we could go make a deep run.  I wasn't purposefuly leaving out Wes and Jerel but I think they've been great this season and they've been great leaders for this team.  Remember in 2003, we got hot and made a run.  Let's keep the love for our squad and cheer for them as hard as if we were unbeaten.   :-*

Other than the final four in 2003, MU hasn't done well in March under Crean. Since 1999-2000 it's been NIT, no post season, one and done, final four, NIT, NIT, one and done last year. I hope it's not one and done this year but past performance isn't that great.

A 6-8 seed would be in the top half of the region. How would a win by the higher seed be "unexpected"?
