Hey guys, I was just wondering the last time the Dwayne has been on campus. Madness a few years ago (don't say the reunion) ? Or are there un-announced visits we don't get to know about. I know that he doesn't have much to come back for with Tommy leaving so, anyone know if he'll be back. Like most of us, its just cool to see him supporting MU and back on campus.
He was here last summer for an event where his foundation and Marquette were teaming up to help with the Boys and Girls Club. He then had a basketball camp for some of the kids afterwards. Then the next night was the Hall of Fame induction for the 2003 team. He spoke very highly about Marquette and his experience here and it sounded like he doesn't plan on disconnecting from MU any time soon. I don't know about any unannounced visits, maybe when the Heat play the Bucks he's come on campus a bit.
Well, I'd hang out around the Broken Yolk or Murph's or the Dogg House and look for a Bentley parked out front. Never know when he might get hungry while studying History 1 in summer session.
BTW, reading today
1)Wade's girlfriend is now sued by his wife in the long running divorce case,
2)that he faces other pending suits over "failed business deals', and
3) that he can get most $ ($127 mil max contract--larry bird exception), only by signing with the heat...
I am betting big time he needs and is best served getting all he can...and
the NBA teams can stop wishing/hoping & there is an end to the guesing-
-he will stay with Miami

I'd hope he doesn't
need to work another day in his life.

ne of those was dismissed, as the others will. The guy suing him is a well known scammer, who conned one of DWade's close friends into committing to the deal. I will search for a great article on him. He was part of the whole "Dwyane gave his wife an STD" deal.
Who is this Dwayne Wade you speak of? I know of a Dwyane Wade.
Weird coincidence.

As a good ol jesuit trained alum, I have to rethink/re process my prior "bold" prediction, of him staying in Miami....ooops...another view would be if his failed business deals didnt wipe out a lot of his past $, and he can buy off and settle divorce now, maybe he'd take 20% less and sign w/ another team just to get away from theses messes and get out of town...a post divorce fresh start,... in other words I have to withdraw the boldness of the prediction, admit foolish arrogance and acknowledge I wasted everyone elses time in reaching a "conclusion"; esp as theres also a logical set of points to him leaving town.
I apologize for wasting anyone's time here on this point. sorry
this is so confusing--now SI reports gaurd D Wade nixes Houston and is likely to go to NJ/NY area (LOL)...

Would be great to see him in Sacramento.
Damn I can't even type that with a straight face
Well, his ex has moved back home to Chicago with the kids. Does that spell doom for the Bulls' chances? Or does Dwyane want to be close to his kids?

I'd think this could only help the Bulls. If he wants to be by his kids, it's a positive. If he doesn't care, I'm sure he'd be busy enough to justify some avoidance.

He is trying to get full custody of the children and believes he will do so, but who knows how long that will take. Even though I have a bias towards him in the situation, I would wager to guess that his claim of his ex-wife being mentally unstable is highly likely, and would also guess he gets custody. I am not doubting that he perhaps cheated on her, but all the things she has done in the past few yrs scream of desperation and instability
That said, he is a good person and I wish him nothing but the best. I just hope he gets the best in Chicago :)
remember with the Larry Bird clause giving the existing team the option to offer a bigger contract Wade could be leaving $30-40 million on the table to sign with any team other than Miami.

1. Nonsense like this is common in high profile divorce cases.
2. Those suits are the fault of the business partners, no D Wade. He's roped in because he was the "name on the door." Similar thing happened with MJ and his failed restaurant on LaSalle Street in Chicago.
3. He can get the max from a team by staying in Miami. By living in Florida he also avoids state income tax, which with his salary is considerable. Nobody can match the dollars of the Heat. But the allure of the bright lights of NY/NJ or Chicago where he can play at home for the team he grew up rooting for in the nation's #3 market cannot be overlooked.
Much like LeBron, there may be a deal with Nike that D Wade would get paid more to play in NY/NJ because of the exposure. That said, I have a hard time believing that playing for the Nets in Brooklyn is considered the same as playing for the Knicks in MSJ.
For what it's worth, in ESPN the magazine they had a Player X article from an NBA player and he said he has no idea where LeBron is going, but he hasn't heard a player say they don't think Wade is coming back to Miami.

Local folks in the know down here put it at 80/20 that he stays.
could him ending up in Chitown help recruiting for us?

If he chose to make some weekend visits up to campus, it certainly could. But if he chose to drive to Bloomington to visit his old college coach instead, probably not.
