6'10" sophomore center Philip Nolan from Vincent High School in Milwaukee has been offered a scholarship by Marquette according to Rivals. Marquette is not just the first school to have offered Nolan a scholarship, but the only school to have done so, so far according to Rivals.
Humm, a high school junior to be would be a freshman at Marquette during Otule's senior year.

Umm... that's how being first usually works?
Maybe it was offered awhile ago and since then no one has offered ?-(
He also is reportedly garnering interest from Tennessee, Purdue, Indiana, and Wisconsin, so at least there's interest from other major programs. Hopefully we'll hear more about him in the future, if Buzz's offered him I'm guessing he's pretty good.

*cough* Brett Roseboro *cough*
Buzz offered Kyle Kelm at about this time two years ago. Kelm will start his freshman year at UWM next year. If he doesn't pan out, the offer will be "forgotten."

Playing the competition Vincent faces is vastly superior to what Roseboro faced.
Crean offered the big dude from Rufus King who went to South Carolina a few years ago. How's he doin'?

Mitchell Carter...He actually transfered to UWM and sat out this past year. Will be eligible for his SR year next year.
This guy seems right up Buzz' alley - tall and lanky, runs the floor well. I have visions of Ekpe Udoh running through my head. A guy can dream, right?

Wouldn't it be funny if he dropped 20 and 8 on Otule? Wonder what that would do to the story.......

No, it was never a rule that once one school has offered a scholarship no other schools can do so.

I think you missed the point of the comment, but I agree.

I think he was more saying that the first is always going to be the only until there is a second. Just because we are currently the first and only doesn't mean it will stay that way, especially for a guy 2 years out.

If I had said that MU had
just become the first to offer maybe Skatastrophy would have had a point. I said that MU was the first to offer, but I didn't say when because I didn't know when, so it was quite possible that other schools had since offered. For that reason, I mentioned that MU was still the one and only school which had offered.
So what are you doing, brewcity77? It would seem that you are defending a poster's right to jump on another poster for not having their facts right when its the guy jumping on the first guy who really doesn't have
his facts right.
Seeing this testosterone driven need to jump on a poster for getting his facts wrong leading posters to jump on the first poster before they even have figured out whether they have their own facts straight is the reason for my signature change this week to: "Oh, I used to be disgusted, now I try to be amused..."

In all honesty, I didn't see it like that at all. I thought it was a good-natured comment, maybe with a
very slight sarcastic ribbing. And when you responded, it sounded like a serious response where the two of you just weren't on the same page comment-wise. Like how mu77vegas misinterpreted MU1984's Roseboro comment to be a comparison of the competition Nolan and Roseboro faced respectively when it was actually inferring that Buzz's recruitment of Roseboro showed that sometimes he misses out on a recruits talent level. The comments between you and Ska didn't strike me at all as a disagreement, or anyone stirring the pot, and all I was doing was clarifying.
Bloody hell, I would have to say that people on this board seem to have the thinnest skin ever. Murs, I'm not coming at you. I'm not trying to incite some kind of disagreement. And maybe there's some huge, pent-up pissing contest between you and Ska that I know nothing about as I'm still a fairly new member, but I'm just trying to be courteous.
There's plenty of good Marquette talk on here, plenty of stuff that's fun to read, and sometimes the banter can get a bit amusing, but at other times everyone just seems a bit too full of themselves. Seriously, of all the posters on here, I find you to be one of the most enjoyable to read because everything you post is usually worth my time and insightful (like this thread). But my lord, go back and look at my post. It's about as harmless as they come. It's not an attack, it's not meant to put you on your guard, it's not cleverly written double-talk, and it certainly didn't require a three-paragraph, testosterone driven response, to use your own turn of phrase.
Listen, bottom line, I meant nothing by it. No harm intended, and I offer my sincere apology if you took offense. I also offer my sincere thanks for bringing this article up, and giving me one more name to keep an eye on come high school hoops season here in Milwaukee.

You took my quip entirely too seriously, sir. Deep breaths.
