Title: Brice Kofane
Post by: Clam Crowder on April 26, 2010, 09:51:07 PM
He just signed with providence a 6 ft 8 power forward. Why does Providence have so many big men, and yet we can't seem to get any?

No bigs ...

Joseph Fulce      6-7/210
Jimmy Butler    6-6/215
Chris Otule           6-10/240
Erik Williams    6-7/185
Youssoupha Mbao 7-2/215
Jae Crowder         6-6/210
Jamil Jones           6-6/190

So you're whining that we did not sign a the 47th best power forward ... a guy that is ranked lower than every guy on our team except Frozena.

If this guy was interested in MU, it is probable that Buzz passed on him.  He'd never see the floor on our team.

Please stop this obsession with MU need to sign the first sucky big guy they can find.

Would you seriously want any of the bigs from PC? Wow...I wish there was a crying emoticon...

I guess "big" needs to be defined. I would not include 6'6" or 6'7", unless that guy goes 240 and can really sky!

I could go to any high school in the country and find a 6'8" guy.  Why do we think that just because they are tall, that makes them good?

Maybe Greedy.  Is he a "big"?

Look at our potential lineups.  We are not small.  So who cares about these other guys.  Our roster with the current signings is perfectly fine with me.

We are much bigger than last year and provided otule and mbao stay healthy we might have a center on the floor somethimes.  6'6" - 6-7" is fine.  We are athletic and play bigger than we are.  But I understand seeing 6'8" + size dudes signing elsewhere and being jealous.  I think we just want one of these guys to develop here so in three years WE have a wide body down low doing some dirty work.
I will beat the dead horse.  Mbakwe and Maymon screwed us.  This fan base calling out for signing a "big" comes from the hole these guys created in leaving.  If Mbakwe was a senior for us right now we could sign a guy like Gardner or Kofane and get them contributing by their sophomore season and starting as a junior.
I would love to have back to back to back years with guys like Faisel Abraham being a senior and guys like Barro as a junior waiting in the wings.

Greedy is a black hole. He kinda reminds me of Zach Randolph, except Randolph makes a good percentage of his shots. I kinda think Greedy hinders them at times.

Yeah, Greedy hindered them 'til he put up 30 against us in Prov. last winter.  Take him in a heartbeat.  6' 6''  230.

Greedy is a beast, he is one of the best players Providence has had in a while. I would take Bilal Dixon to he was a freshman last year and is a good rebounder. They are certainly different players than Fulce, Butler, and E-Will. Bilal is a big body and a good rebounder I would definitely take a couple of them

Kadeem Batts   F    6-8    235
   Jamine Peterson   F    6-6    230
   Bilal Dixon   F-C    6-8    228
   Russ Permenter   F    6-9    230
   James Still   F    6-9    210
   Ray Hall   C    6-11    265

They have some big boys on their team. Permenter and Still may no longer be there next year, but either way Council, Brooks, Greedy, Bilal, and with their recruiting class don't sleep on PC in the next couple of the years

Well, if we want a big, maybe we could take Anderson, Gavinski or Markolf off the hands of UW.  Buzz doesn't want to sign a big guy just to sign a big guy.  He wants a big guy that can play or develop or he'll take a smaller guy that can play.  We don't need big guys that are bench warmers.

Hey man I was just responding to the guy asking if I would seriously want one of PC's big men and I do...so I answered his question? Is that okay with you?
