What the hell happened to our 20%.  Damn, I get a bad feeling about facing this guy.  Much more so than I did about Maurice Walker.

Really wish it had been somewhere other than UL, but we can't say we didn't see it coming. Maybe because he got here and found out we were fresh out of schollies?

Another highly regarded recruit where it was down to MU and another school, and he chooses the other school.  It seems like the high profile recruiting battles seem to go against us, Riley, DeRosiers, Black, the kid that chose FSU, the kid that ended up at Oklahoma, just to name a few.  However, Buzz seems to be able to get some guys out of "left field" who turn out to be pretty good.

Yeah, and the first step is to get into these battles.  Soon, I see Buzz winning his share.

We already won one of those with Vander Blue.

The nature of the game is that we're going to lose more than we win.  We won with Blue, Jones, etc.  We'll win in the future.

We were so behind in the recruitment of this guy that it was amazing that we were there at the end.  First, he had an official visit to Louisville with his best new American buddy, Vince Coleman.  I've also seen uncorroborated reports that he went back to Louisville on two unofficial visits.  Then he plays in a high school all-star game on Louisville home court during which he wins his teams MVP award all while being cheered on by a partisan Louisville crowd.  All before he visits MU.  He would have been a very tough get.  It took guts to try, and I'm glad that Buzz did.

His new buddy is the former Cardinals outfielder???

Yes, this has been well publicized for some time.  When Gorgui learned that Justin Coleman hadn't been completely truthful with him regarding his academic standing, Gorgui reached out to fellow 2010 recruit Gerald Coleman to be his new best friend.  However, Gerald Coleman conditioned any friendship on Gorgui changing his college choice to Providence where Gerald was committed.  Gorgui was completely torn about what to do until Jody Demling mentioned Vince Coleman to him.  Thus, a new friendship was born.

How else could I come up with this story, if it wasn't true.  You couldn't think that I'm old enough to remember an outfielder who retired in 1997, could you?

Okay, the last post was a bit of a stretch.  Would you believe that Justin Coleman is attempting to steal Vince Coleman's identity in an attempt to qualify?

I was a junior in high school when he was a rookie.

Dangit! This guy is a big time player who has NBA potential! He will get major minutes at Louisville and will probably contend for freshman of the year in the Big East! :'(

Tommy would have unleashed Mike Maddox, Mike McCarthy, Tony LaRussa, and the Harbaugh Boys to ensure Dieng signed on the dotted line!

Correct!  We would NOT even have been in the running for Dieng!
