Who do we want? Dieng or Noreen?

And the best question--where do we get the scholie from?

I think the answer has to be Dieng.  I've heard very positive reviews on him.

Yeah--both of them. Scholarship numbers be damned! Scholarships? We don't need any stinking scholarships!

MU is in no position to be choosing any player, so take who fits a need and work with him.

Say what?  Obviously you know nothing of how recruiting works.

Ruby, oops I forget you shoot free throws and then the coach who makes the most picks his players.

From what I have read, Dieng can contribute next year. Not so sure Noreen can.

Is the fact that it is unanswerable at this time what makes it the best question?

I actually think that that makes it a poor question since it makes it a premature question.

Exactly.

was it this weekend they were both in town?  If so, were we allowed to take them to the Bucks game?  Might have been nice to have them watch the Bradley Center come alive for the Bucks.  I will desent and say Noreen if the question really came down to us getting one and only one of the two.  I'm just fascinated by the stats, and the fact that he would have easily led the state in scoring even if you only counted his games against big schools makes him too tempting.  With those numbers he could be something special, or he could be a Tom Copa, 6-foot-10 guy who was probably the best player in Minnesota.  Tom was stronger than Noreene would be (was actually offerred a scholarship to play tight end for Nebraska), while Noreen may have a better knack for putting the ball in the hoop.

People were disappointed in Copa because they thought he was going to be another Bo Ellis, but if Noreen could even put up Copa's sophomore stats (263 points, 171 rebounds in 31 games) I think he'd give us what we needed with the incredible talent at the other four positions.  And the upside could be tremendous, as a guy who scores 28+ a game against big schools in high schools (throwing out his games against A and AA schools) could give us our first inside scoring threat in years.  I'd take a shot with him if given the choice.

What if Buzz took Dieng, Noreen, Cothron, and Gardner and released 4 players?

Now THAT would be interesting, and fire up some conversation  ;)

I have a funny feeling we may be hearing some news on sunday, maybe from one of the recruits (perhaps Gardner?)

Prediction:
Buzz tries to get Dieng, if he commits on his visit I would say game over, with Gardner committing to USF soon after and Noreen likely staying at BC.

If Dieng sticks with slick rick, Buzz tries to get Noreen. If he commits this weekend then game over again, with Gardner at USF and Gorgui at UL.

If neither commit, I would say Buzz gives it some time, but not much. I would then predict that Gardner commits at some point later this week...

Wildcard: Cothron, although with whats been heard about grades and no visit planned I would guess this is a longshot

Note: All pure speculation, no insider info. Just going on my gut feeling and trying to read the situation

Made one of my rare appearances at the Bucks game last night. Though the place was sold out, I looked in all the strategic seating locations for any spotting of Dieng, Noreen, and the MU entourage with no luck. They may have been present, just sayin', I didn't spy them out. Any one else, yes or no on the big men sighting?

Thanks Little mars. Why is it a poor question since the thread is about who we want---when we do not have any vacancies allowed? I guess then that all these comments are poor speculative comments if the question is a poor one. As Spock would say, logic follows.

We know that Buzz is recruiting Dieng in and Noreen...so it is logical to discuss how each player, their positives and negatives, how they would fit, etc.

We DONT know how a scholarship would open up, should one of these guys (or someone else) commit.  Buzz knows what is going on with his current team and incoming signees...All we can do is speculate and make assumptions based on PT last year, what a kid may or may not have said at a party, etc...not very logical.

See the difference?

Help me with something ... why do we think any of these guys (Deing, Cothron, Noreen, Gardner) is an upgrade over what we have?  Again, I'm assuming to sign one of them we have to ask someone to leave.  If Buzz knows that someone is leaving of their free will and has an open spot, then I'm all for signing any of them.

So this is not just a signing but more like a trade.  So consider what you lose versus what you gain.

Last year Ewill was rated higher than Deing.  Mbao was rated higher than Gardner.  Noreen is only slightly higher rated tha Ewill.  The only guy that is clearly higher rated is Cothron.

Last year many posted that Ewill would play 20 minutes a game.  Some even wondered if he would leave early for the NBA.  No one thinks that Corthron, Gardner, Deing or Noreen are that good.

Deing in from Senegal and considered a project.  Mbao is from Senegal and considered a project.  How do you know that Deing is that much better than Mbao?

I'm struggling to see what taking these guys and booting someone off the team is really an upgrade? Is it you have all written off Ewill and Mbao and the guy you don't know, or have never seen, seems like a major upgrade?

I talked to a friend at the Brewers game last night, he did say he say a couple of "really tall black kids" at the game.  He had no idea who they were but he said they were nearly 7 feet tall.

4ever, maybe you had the right idea but the wrong game.

Why do people continue to refer to it as "booting someone off the team?"

Is it "booting" them if they notify they coaching staff that they would like to transfer?

Is it "booting" them if they dont qualify?

Schollies are one year commitments.  They need to be renewed every year.

If the team tells you they will nor renew your schollie, you have been "booted off the team."  See the previous coach for numerous examples.

If you inform the team that you're leaving, they you have not been booted but you're "leaving of your own free will."  See Mbakwe.

People are too quick to jump to the conclusion that it will play out that way. There are other things that can happen, beyoned being "Buzzed/Creaned"

Typically, by April 25th, the first possibility would've been announced and the second possibility wouldn't be refuted repeatedly by "insiders", as it has in the last week, if it were true.

I know your crap don't stank when it comes to knowing what goes on inside the Al so you're better then us, but the silence propagates the overwhelming feeling that someone is going to be nudged.

"Buzzed/Creaned"

Please refrain from using the term "Buzzed." I believe this is the brainchild of a rabble rouser. The use of Creaned or Creaning though is acceptable per the Urban Dictionary:
http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Creaning

I understand it refers to players, assistant coaches, and the practice of artificial tanning.
