Per jsonline, UW center Ian Markholff is quitting the basketball program, but will remain a student and complete his degree. This opens up a scholarship for 2010.

This must be the mystery big man!
He's not even continuing to play basketball at another school. Sounds like the kid was just taking up space on the bench.
Read the comments below. Someone (I think correctly) said that he was "nudged" out...and then you get the "Bo doesn't treat his players that way" response.
<sigh>
So, he got Ryaned?
My favorite response to this article:
"Personally, as a fan and alum I think Bo has it right---recruit student athletes from as close to home as possible and stay away from the one time wonders and the jucos. That is not the mission of the University."
So part of UW's mission is to not recruit JUCO's lol, can I see your mission statement?
Yes....UW-Madison hates juco transfers of any sort.

They liked Zach Morley though.
Because he's white.
Ian cooled on Bo.
This explains the following odd item from the Badger Herald:
University of Wisconsin basketball player Ian Markholff arrived to begin off season conditioning when he noticed that his name plaque had been removed from his locker. After they were summoned, campus police asked Markholff to wait in the locker room for the basketball team's video coordinator. No further details are available at this time. ::)
"He obviously couldn't fit in with grades at UW-Madison" ... errrr
"He obviously had off court problems that Bo Ryan wouldn't deal with" ... errr
All of the obvious Madison excuses don't fit with this one.
Could it be that holier than thou Bo Ryan could possibly run off a recruit?
This guy must not be cutting it in the classroom. Wisconsin-Madison is supposed to be a world class university. I think they had Donna Shalala as their Commissar at one time. They must be really good.
Funny how this event can been seen as "Creaning" by some UW fans AND they'll admit that it'll be best for both parties.
SO MUCH FOR LOYALTY!

Ooops. Is being told you're not going to get playing time/not Big East talent (Roseboro) the same as walking to your locker only to see your nameplate removed?
Perhaps I should have used teal when "reporting" a certain fictitious article from the Badger Herald.
Sorry.

actually, he was an academic AA, IIRC.
unless you meant to put this in teal... which I'm pretty sure you did.
