Never heard that before, interesting.

At Glenbrook North it didn't take Scheyer long to earn the nickname "Jewish Jordan." Scheyer – who received a scholarship offer from Marquette as an eighth-grader – started for the varsity team as a freshman, which didn't always sit well with the seniors who had spent years paying their dues.

NEVER!
There can only be ONE Jewish Jordan...Tamir Goodman!!!
Obviously, it wasn't a bad idea. I thought Scheyer was going to be a Novak (lights out type shooter), I wouldn't say he's that deadly but he's a hell of a player. I've been impressed with his ability to run the point as well as he has the last year and a half.
I would have loved to see Scheyer go to Marquette or U of I but I can't blame any kid for wanting to go to a UNC, Duke or other major program. People are stupid for booing a kid for making a choice like that. Same crap happened with Eric Gordon (he was not from Illinois but pulled the switch to IU) and people were up in arms. Granted, Kelvin Sampson may have been doing some under the table stuff there but they are still kids so people need to grow up.
All that said, I want Butler to use the power of Howard's mustache to take down Duke.
What about Niv?

We all know the value of a Tom Crean promise. Easy to pass out chips that may or may not have any worth.
Yeah, but he was clearly right in this case.
Scheyer was pretty close to a sure thing in terms of at least being a decent college player. He was already at or close to 6'6" and very skilled. He was a great shooter in his H.S. Career and could handle the ball, but never would have imagined him as a PG. Have to give him credit. Most amazing thing I've seen in sports in person was him scoring 21 pts in 1:15 in a big tournament game. Unreal. He had 31 before that run.

wait, what? 21 points in 75 seconds? That is one three-pointer every 10 seconds. Please elaborate, that is incredible.

As you can tell from the video, he was an entitled, whiny bitch in high school as well.

I remember that SI article. It was very interesting. He was orthodox which made things difficult for him.

Thanks for posting the video, I should have included that. I'm not really a big fan of Duke or Scheyer, but he had every right to be upset about the last foul call. It would be hard to imagine anyone not reacting to a call like that in the midst of carrying his team back in a big game. I understand that people get annoyed with the way the Duke program carries itself and Scheyer specifically with all the facial expressions during the course of a game, but when you really think about it, I can't think of any off the court troubles or anything that really would warrant the disdain many direct toward Scheyer. The kid had a very solid four year career at a great school and presumably will graduate. Seems to be the epitome of a student athlete taking advantage of the opporunities afforded him as an elite athlete.

well said. I personally cannot stomach guys like Jism-er, I mean Chism from Tenn- bellering in Lazar's face after every score..., taunting and swearing at the MU players without consequence. To me, he is the epitome of poor sportsmanship.
