Surprised no topic on this one yet. That looked nasty. Hopefully just a sprain but my money's on an ACL.
Say what you want about Huggins but that was a pretty emotional moment the way he reacted and consoled Butler.
Ya, I always hated huggy in the past, but this year I think he has actually grown on me.
And that injury looked real bad with the way his knee buckled then how much pain he was in, I feel really bad for butler.
It may even be worse than ACL. His career could be in a world of hurt. I hope not though
That was genuine emotion Huggins displayed. Great show of support for his hurt player.
As a former Huggins hater, his openness with his emotional side in a public setting as his team was getting their asses handed to them converted me.
He could have just held his player's hand...
He could have just stood over him and had the doc look at him...
He could have just had his players huddle for a use of a TO...
He could have checked in on him and let him be...
But Bobby - who seemingly has changed his Cincy ire since the heart problems - really was a player's coach right there.
Feel really bad for D'Sean. Glad he had a coach who helped him keep his composure during a difficult time.
A lot of respect for Huggins after that. Hope the best for Butler.
Same here - I was impressed by Huggins and didnt think he did it for show - it was true compassion for a great player who was in agony
Tough way to end a career for butler...hopefully it doesn't hurt his future.
Did anyone notice the response to the injury? He was obviously in tremendous pain, but only the wvu trainer and huggins came out. Where is the ncaa to help out? It seemed like they had to call that golf cart in from a local course because it took so long. The one guy that helped him off the court looked like a wvu booster and came out of the 4th row. You would think the ncaa wouldve had a better response, especially considering they were in an nfl stadium. Also, if it was a different type of injury...the response time couldve made a biggg difference
Go watch Andruw Boguts injury...
it was a real shame watching this at a bar. one, i didnt know what the injury was. (i guessed dislocated knee from the way it sort of seemed huggy was holding butler down and not letting him look at the trainer -while the trainer wasn't being shown on tv). two, there were a ton of drunken idiots spewing homophobic nonsense about it all when it was clearly a moment that would have been really neat (in that terrible but touching way) to watch at home.
sidenote: the worst part about the morons at the bar were the guys that you could tell knew better, but were accompanied by girls or bros or whoever they thought they needed to impress. if someone knows sports and clearly has it in them to appreciate a moment in a game, why denigrate it like that? its not like thats what girls want to hear anyway... kind of a random rant at 1:00 am i suppose, but it just ruined what was obviously an important moment.

Good point about the seeming lack of preparation by the NCAA. Just furthered my feeling that the NCAA is an incompetent governing body for college athletics. An absolute sham.
Does anyone happen to have video of the injury and Huggins' response to it? I unfortunately missed the game but would like to see how Huggins' helped console Butler.

Here is a story that was on yahoo, i think it is only part of the response but you defiantly get the picture. It is pretty moving seeing the genuine care in Huggins.

Wow, I really can't remember seeing anything like that. I think Huggins is really much happier now that he is back in W. Virginia after so many years and it seems to be showing. He's still tough, but much more at peace.
I have never seen anyone in so much agony for so long......that was tough to watch. I agree - why did it take so long for them to get him off the court?? My heart went out to him. And, yes, I too was impressed with Huggins and how he interacted with him.
DaSean seems to have more class in his pinky than any thug Huggy recruited to Cincy. Could Thuggins be transformed?
I was really impressed with Thuggy, also.
