Interesting read.. make sure you check out the poll at the end of the article ;)
I love that crazy Russian billionaire. Anyone else see that 60 minutes piece on him? Dude is worth 17 large, like 5 times the amount Cuban is worth, owns a yacht, but has no idea where it is because he gets sea sick, and travels the world with a crew of hot blondes.
Tee hee, another very long April fools joke.
Gosh, I love this day.
but just think, if these dominoes do fall we get to hear indiana fans complain about Crean leaving because "It's Michigan State, it's Michigan State!"

His name is Mikhail Prokhorov. He owns Norilsk Nickel, gold and nickel mines in Siberia. He also owns a investment fund called Onexim.
He was jailed in 2007 for three days for alleging arranging prostitutes for a bunch of friends in France.
My personal opinion is these Russian billionaires are all dirty. Mafia and illegal activities follow them. I trust none of them and would not want to be associated with any of them. I'd rather have a Saudi Prince as an owner (the second dirtiest group of billionaires).
See what Roman Abramovich and his ownership of Chelsea is doing to Premiership football in England. The league is a financial mess and some fear it may collapse.

I fear Prokhorov has the same ability to destroy the NBA.
Glad I got that off my chest.
i don't believe that Izzo will go anywhere. has anybody ever heard he is unhappy at MSU? he is just about an institution there and is well entrenched in that program. Why leave for any other gig when you are in the final 4 about every two years? MSU will likely approach/match any offer he gets else where.

I don't think MSU would be interested in TC.
I guess I shouldn't be surprised by the NBA's desire to chase the $$$, but this guy seems like a complete idiot and a risk to the league.

My favorite thing about these Russian billionaires is the giant holes in their life stories. They all have pretty average to unimpressive upbringings and academic backgrounds and begin in a normal business track. Then all of a sudden, all of them in their late 20s/early 30s take over some small to medium sized natural resource related company and then 5 years later are worth billions of dollars with diversified business portfolios. They are like real like Underwear Gnomes from South Park. Knowing the rampant corruption in Russia, its not hard to find common denominators.

+1.
And they travel with security that rivals The President. Stories have it that Abramovich bought a couple of MIGs that shadow his private plane(s) as protection. His Yacht has anti-missile defenses that are similar to what destroyers have and his personal body guards number in the hundreds and carry grenades and automatic weapons.
What would we think of Bill Gates or Warren Buffett if they had this kind of security?

The NBA is imploding with or without a dirty Russian billionaire.

To say this same thing ... A sign that things are imploding is when you invite in Russian Billionaires.
