First mentioned too ;D
Congrats Jae! We look forward to your career at Marquette!
Pretty nice considering Jimmy Butler was just an honorable mention in 07-08 (granted he was only a Freshman)

Crowder was 2nd team as a frosh.
Crowder will start next year for the warriors. It appears that he is talented enough and we will need his size.
F Crowder
F Butler
C Otule (by default)
PG Cadougan
2G DJO
Others will play plenty of minutes: Bucyks; Blue; Newbill (about 10 minutes); Williams and Fulce about 10 -15 minutes
what about Jones?
depends on who's leaving.
The first team listing isn't alphabetical, and Jae is listed first. I wonder if this means he got the most votes.

Over on the scout board, they're saying that he earned JUCO POY honors from looking at Jae's facebook.
Congrats Jae!!

Buzz hasn't played anyone by default. And he's had nothing but opportunities with no big men and no bench. No one will play 'by default.' I think Buzz would play 4 first.

I agree
dont sleep on jones, anyone watch him play today? 19 points, guy can shoot the 3, and is athletic enough to defend. Hard to think he wont find some pt next year

Congrats to Jae, and also congrats to Coach Buzz and Monarch, for helping to land Mr. Crowder. Considering the lack of balanced recruiting classes, due to Tom Crean's departure - I think we all owe Buzz and staff a tremendous pat on the back for getting us this year's JUCO POY, Jimmy Butler, and DJO and Buycks, both of whom were 1st Team All-American JUCO's. Really phenomonal when you think about it.
I am of the belief Crowder starts at MU next year.

Partially agree. Havent seen him play, but if his game translates to a 4 or 5 position he will start. That is, if he can rebound and defend the paint, whether or not he scores inside or out. If he translates more towards a 3, I think he comes off the bench. Also depends quite a bit on Otule's status at the time
Buzz isnt afraid to go small. He will play Jimmy B at the 4, and would throw in Fulce at the 5 if noone steps up to claim the other post spot. If one of Otule, Mbao, or crowder arent ready next season, it may end up being a tough yr
I think Crowder will be ready. He can stroke it, can rebound at the JUCO level and hes only got 2 years left so hopefully he is motivated not to waste it. Butler and DJO have performed great outta JUCO and Buycks was no slouch for alot of last year too. I think Crowder performs well and may average double figures.
Even Fulce is slowly starting to show some things.
First, it was about Buzz's Texas pipeline (Fulce, Butler, EWill, Otule, Cadougan).
Is it now the JUCO pipeline (Fulce, Butler, Buycks, DJO)?

Well yeah....that's where his recruiting connections are.
I told you this a few months ago, but I sat next to a pretty high level college basketball writer, and I asked about Buzz. He told me that he likes him, but he is going to have to take time to develop his recruiting networks in the area. That is why both the Reggie Smith signing was so important...he's making connections in the CPL.

One would think that with this building record of JUCO players having success at MU, MU would become a top choice for the best JUCO talent, and perhaps already may be.
I would have no problem if MU pulled in a 1st team AA JUCO every time it had more than three schollies to fill in a particular year.

Fully agree with your analysis. Buzz has said all along he wants to recruits guys that can pass, dribble and shoot..and play the game. I don't see Buzz being a coach who will ever want "rebuilding years." Furthermore, I don't see Buzz not offering a JUCO who has great skills a scholarship, just due to the fact he only has 2 or 3 years of eligibility left. Buzz will always sign the kids who are the best available players, who want or are willing to sing with MU.

Buzz is signing kids to MU and Jimmy Butler's label??? ;D
Talk about a talent scout...
Interesting how the JUCOs are working out for Buzz. The roster next year will have three first team AA (Crowder, DJO and Buycks); one second team AA (Fulce) and one honorable mention (Butler). Also, Crowder and Buycks were two-time AAs (Crowder was second team in 2009 and Buyck's was honorable mention in 2008).
I wonder if there is any other team that has assembled that many AA JUCOs over the last few years.

Maybe not recently, but Tarkanian and the Runnin' Convicts used to stock up on Jucos all the time. years aga.
"I wonder if there is any other team that has assembled that many AA JUCOs over the last few years."
I think willie warrior is probably correct about UNLV under Tarkanian. Huggins often recruited one or two a year during his Cincinnati tenure, but I can't say that he ever had 5 JUCO AA's.
I just realized that our entire junior and senior class are JUCO's. I doubt that Buzz's JUCO connections were at the top of the list of qualities that Marquette liked when it named him HC, but they sure have come in handy. In the case of DJO, Buzz's connections not only helped with the recruiting, but helped him know to recruit since most schools were surprised by DJO's decision to come out after his freshman year in JUCO, Buzz already knew and had been recruiting him.

I thought Smith was suburban, not CPL.
