One of the "major" violations, apparently, the academic advisor did not make sure the atheltes were in a degree program by their 5th semester. Still in "general studies"
Fair?
This must be USC's punishment.
3 year probation? thats all? for all that winning - worth it.

Or UCLA's for the Sam Gilbert days. The NCAA really goes after the big issues.... :o
This typifies everything that is wrong with the NCAA. Money grubbing whores when it comes to their big events and merchandising but they turn a blind eye to the very obvious and multiple violations of the same schools and coaches over and over.
They couldn't find this type of violation at a BCS school? ?-(

Butch, it's actually almost impossible to find this violation at a BCS school because there is an army of advisors, etc to make sure this type of thing doesn't happen. At smaller schools, they don't have that going for them.
Now, that's not to suggest crap isn't going on at BCS schools, of course it is, but not this type of violation.
I'll bet IUPUI has one academic adviser for the entire department with no one cross checking things. That's my guess.
How is it that a major school like UW-madison could have 4 basketball players academically ineligible in ONE SEMESTER despite a ton of resources? It happens....it happens.
