I've got some explaining to do...
During the game, the site had some "CPU Limit Exceeded" warnings. The good news is that it had nothing to do with MUScoop using too much processor power (we're on a 4 CPU machine!), or bandwidth problems. Those were fine.
We are however, on a shared server, meaning other websites are hosted on the same computer. Because of this, they limit MUScoop to 20 processes at one time. For normal forum browsing this isn't a problem because every time a user clicks on a link it starts a process for a fraction of a second (to produce the page) and then the processes is gone forever. We can handle probably 50 clicks every second, no problem.
When we got to the game chat however, we got to 18 users and things choked and spit us out. We weren't using a lot of CPU, but every chat user was consuming a processes. Even if every one of those 20 processes is using 0.01 % CPU, they cut us off.
I do have a few backup plans. Not sure they'll be in place for Monday or Tuesday's chat, but things will be resolved soon (not that they've been that bad...).

The whole thing made for some fun comments as everyone logged backed in. And for that game, we needed all the fun we could get.
As always, your efforts are very much appreciated.

Just kidding, of course.
;D
DAMN! They told me the server was in a secure room! Where'd you get a picture!?!?

I can promise you that the backup plan is much more slick than that.. we're working on the possibility of it now.. more details later!! ;)
note to rocky, let's repaint the server to make it less identifiable now.. call it the CPU reimaging program.....

Yup, no details yet, but with any luck things will be much improved in another week

You really don't owe any of us an explanation. This site is great and I'm really enjoying it. The chat last night was great -- even if I did get booted a few times. If you're willing to make things even better -- thanks. Thanks for the whole package.
Just an FYI (and I hope rocky, as the topic originator, doesn't mind) - I changed the top subject to reflect the hillsdale game... I got tired of opening up muscoop, looking at the unread forum topics and seeing "game on.. chat open" and uttering a collecting ^$%& and having a heart attack that I was missing a game somehow :D

The kind words are certainly appreciated. Since we've had such a great community effort to make this site better, I'm certainly willing to do my part and make sure things always work as their expected. :)

Geeze...this one makes me furious though ;D That's cool.
