Sorry to hear.
I've got a question about Bo. How influential was he as a recruiter in the Chicago area? I've heard conflicting stories about that. If he still has those connections, he wouldn't be a bad addition to a staff somewhere.
Bo has atremendous amount of cache in Chicago, especially with coaches and administrators.
Problem is 16 year old kids really dont care what someone did 30 years ago. Notice not many recruits caring about Indiana's success in the 70's either.
Additionally, a recruiting job is like rebounding it is all about effort. For that reason it is usually a young guys job, full of energy and hungry. Not sure that fit Bo anymore.
this may be going out on a limb but how about MU hiring Bo as a big man coach/consultant?
Wasn't he an assistant under O'Neill working with Jimmy Mac? I was in school at the time so I should probably know the answer to that but over the years my memory has faded. Damn beer!
Thoughts/ridicule in 3....2.....1....
Bo Ellis was an assistant under Kevin O Neil. He was fantastic working with the players and really acted as the "good cop" during the Sweet 16 year. He has a great heart and a wonderful personality. Not sure he is a head coach though. Just a great assistant.
Well, he went to Chicago State as a head coach after working for O'Neill. After he was fired there, I believe he came back to work for Deanne until he was let go.
He's a wonderful man who loves Marquette...I'm just not sure that he really fits into this staff at this time.
We rode same city bus down 92nd, when he was returning from design classes at mount mary college (not offered at MU), and he designed the uniforms for al's teams (medalist made unis)--he came up w/the similar pattern used now that we get compliments on, as having coolest uni s in college BB.
Maybe he could latch on as an asst w/Oregons new head coach and also part time design for nike-- the swoosh permutations are so played out
Bo also worked for Crean in 2004.
this is going to sound like a Buzzism, but Bo Ellis was one of the nicest people I had the honor to meet when I was a student working the front desk at Humphrey. I hope he he catches on somewhere.

Going off memory here, correct me if I'm wrong. Didn't Bo lobby for the MU HC job either after KO or Deane? Wasn't their some bad blood when he did not get it? That bad blood passed as he returned to MU around 2004.
Also, didn't he leave MU in 2004 to move back to Chicago where his family lived because he had an issue with his daughter? I cannot remember what. Am i confusing him with someone else?
I wish the man well. Hopefully after 30 years in Chicago he has plenty of contacts in his field and will land on his feet shortly.
One of the kindest people you could ever meet.
I'm sure the reason why he left was because his daughter Nikki (who was the women's team manager when I was there) passed away from a liver disease in 2003. His youngest daughter, Christina, has special needs. Here's the foundation he set up in Nicole's name.
