Title: Could a new recruit take Frozena's scholarship?
Post by: SaveOD238 on March 28, 2010, 02:01:35 PM
If Buzz really is recruiting still for next year, as has been widely reported, could the scholarship for the new guy be Frozena's?  As a walk-on, I dont think he's guaranteed to retain the scholarship.  He's also a really smart guy (#2 in high school class), so the University could probably give him an academic scholarship.  This way we don't lose any players from next years roster.

Frozena is a walk on and doesn't have an athletic scholarship.  He pays his way - minus scholarships of course.  As of now, they have all 13 athletic scholarships committed at this point.

Walk-ons aren't on scholarship.

Walk-ons aren't on scholarship.

Hence the term 'walk-on'.

The scholarship table specifically says that he is a "Walk on - not on scholarship."

my mistake.  he was on the scholarship chart for this year because we didnt have a full roster.  i didnt do the math to see if he was one of the 13 for next year

I believe Frozena was on scholarship just because we had one available going to waste.  He won't get to keep the scholarship next year as there will be a legit recruit to take it.

Yeah, I see where you are coming from.  The scholarship table has an error.  Either Frozena is color-coded wrong, or the number below should be "1."  (Unless there is some rule that I am not aware of.)

Also, while not wrong it is premature to have Otule labeled as a redshirt.  He has not been granted the medical redshirt yet.

I dont think he was awarded an athletic scholarship for this year. He has been on academic scholarship from the start.

Buzz could adopt Frozen-A.

Frozena is on a ROTC scholarship, not an athletic one.

On the scholie count, after we didn't "fill" the extra in December, I cahnged the number to zero.  I guess we still technically had one available, but since we had already used it for 2010, I moved the number to zero.

As for Otule, I waited a while to move him to the redshirt category.  If it doesn't happen, it's easy to change, but it is the most likely scenario now.
