They passed on Howland?
I don't get this hire for Iowa at all. You get a guy who is a good Xs and Os coach, but one who is completely foreign to the midwest. I am finding it hard to believe this is the best they could come up with.
As for the wiki, Corliss Williamson was a junior college coach and now has moved up to low major? Interesting.

He was an assistant coach for eleven years at Notre Dame, so he's not completely foreign to the Midwest. I know someone in the family who said they have a ton of family in the Midwest, so Iowa makes a lot of sense for him personally and professionally.
I think it's a great hire. Iowa gets an guy who has proven that he can succeed with minimal resources and less talent than he'll get at Iowa. I like seeing coaches like Keno Davis, Fran McCaffery, and Brad Stevens get their time in the spotlight. It's good for the sport.

That's what they said about Licklighter. But he couldn't get talent to Iowa. That is why they need a recruiter. I'll be honestly surprised if this doesn't end the same way.

Drew was completely foreign to Texas and the south, but a solid X's and O's coach....done very well for Baylor.
Does Siena know that Mike Deane is available? He can go back to his roots.

Drew had a reputation as a recruiter though.
Scott Drew had one season as a head coach at Valpo and took them to the NIT opening round. I'm not sure how much of an X and O's guy he was. He has always been know at Valpo as a recruiter. Baylor is/ was very very lucky that he took the job at the time.

He was the top recruiter on his dad's staff that put together the run of NCAA tournament appearances and MidCon championships. There is a reason that Valpo has fallen off since his departure.
I think Chicos just throws crap at the wall to see if any of it sticks. He is so unknowledgeable it is funny.

Fran isn't a bad recruiter himself. One guy in the NBA and another on his current squad who could be after this season, at tiny Siena. That's pretty good recruiting.
