Great article. Buzz and Marquette are a pretty good fit.
Nothing is guaranteed in life, but it looks like Buzz is hear for the long haul.
He doesn't have an agent? Wow.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again... either Buzz's comments are 100% genuine or he's one hell of an actor. And I don't believe drama is a requirement of the Kinesiology program, even at OK City U.
Money corrupts a lot of people, this is true. But not everyone is susceptible to such temptation. To suggest that Buzz will fall prey to the power of greed over time is very shortsighted, but unfortunately cynicism and ulterior motives run deep in our society.
My only hope is that those people who cannot fathom why someone would turn down money and power in favor of principle or ideal are able to know the joy and comfort such a decision can bring firsthand.
My guess is that Buzz is going to be at MU for a very long time.
This guy is a diamond in the rough. Loved the comment by a reader under the article about Senior Day. Those kids were genuine in their affection for Buzz.

Good point - I'm sure there will be the same short-sighted fans on here who have been taking the continued wait and see approach, give it 4 or 5 years before judging, etc...who will be the first to point out a "bad" season, and that Buzz doesn't really have it. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but if your intuition and evaluation of Buzz up until this point hasn't led you to the conclusion that Buzz is the best thing that has happened to MU basketball since D-Wade became eligible, and Al McGuire...you've got to be blind or extremely cynical. Buzz will be Tom Crean's biggest contribution to the program. Thanks T.C. for bringing Buzz here, and subsequently leaving.

Based on some of the anti-Buzz posts on display after a tough loss, I fear that the doom-and-gloom posters will turn their back on Buzz the second things get tough. But as long as the players and administration stick behind him, Buzz should be comfortable and should be here for a long time.
A bad season? Heck, some manics on these boards melt down after a loss and seem to want Buzz gone. But, at least 90% of us, the administration, and the people that really matter, have a longer term view and understand that winning is important, but not the only thing at MU. And, that there will be ups and downs, just like in every program.
That is one of the reasons why I get annoyed at people going over the edge after a loss, for whatever reason.

I recall a number of posts here calling Buzz a bad X-O coach, a bad end of game coach, a bad bench coach, even a bad foul throw coach. And that was after single losses. I can definitely see a number of people here calling for his head if, God forbid, MU has a bad season.
I don't really remember, but were people calling for Tom Crean's head when we had those two awful seasons after the Final Four?

Actually, for me, it's the exact opposite.
My "wait and see" approach goes both ways.
Even if MU sucked this year, I wouldn't have been calling for Buzz's head.
If Buzz has a bad season, I won't coming running here to say "see, see!", I'll be saying "You have to give a coach a chance to build his program, that means 4-5 years".
Anybody who evaluates a coach on a single season (much less a single game) isn't being realistic. That goes for the good and the bad.

Not that I'm an AD, but I really think that Buzz has grown as a coach this year. For example, early on I hated that he waited too long to call timeouts, but I thought he really became a better flow coach at the end of the year. I think that the wait and see fans and the immediately pro-Buzz fans can now come to a concensus. With the recruiting classes that are set, Buzz's development as a coach, and the undeniably good person he seems to be, Marquette is in a great position.
