That should be in teal by the way. He didn't foul up 3 with 10 seconds left in the game.
Obviously everyone doesn't foul in that situation and I am fine with Buzz's strategy but if Buzz doesn't know what he is doing, then Izzo doesn't know what he is doing either along with a whole bunch of other coaches.
You got me with the title. I totally took the bait... I wouldn't be surprised, though, to see some kook on here say just as much.

Never give your opponent points...... ;)

With 10 seconds you're not supposed to foul. It's a fouling situation between 5 and 7 seconds
I'm not sure..., but I'm not ready to say Tom Izzo sucks as a coach after his team wins, and after some of the amazing seasons the Spartans have had over the years.
I mean what has Tom Izzo ever accomplished in the NCAA tourney to even be considered a decent coach?

Please tell me this is sarcastic. The people that say "i don't use teal cuz I don't think you need it" clearly underestimate the number of nutso's that come in here on a day-to-day basis

No, it's really not. The strategy laid out by most experts is that you don't foul with 10 seconds and you don't foul with under 5 seconds. I think Buzz even made the same statement. There is a fine line where it works and it doesn't work.
Too much time means they other team can foul you, you miss your free throws and they come down and win it.
Too little time increases the chance to foul them while they are taking a 3 point shot. So most people backing the foul strategy will say under 10 seconds, but usually more than 5. Ideally it's 5 to 7 seconds according to some of the "analysis" I've seen.
Izzo knows what he's doing; he, legendary.
Buzz has stated he doesn't foul because we're a poor rebounding team and we're tiny. That makes perfect sense to me.

He learned everything he knows from Stew Morrill.
He's accomplished nothing since Crean left him...!

Actually, N Mex St took their final 3 point shot with less than 3 seconds left. So far in the tournament Tom Izzo, Jay Wright and the coaches of N Iowa and Old Dominion have chosen to defend rather than foul up 3 with less than 5 seconds to play. No coach has chosen to foul. So while I tend to agree with you (except for small, weak rebounding teams like Villanova and Marquette) it's far from a "settled science".

So does Boeheim...also legendary. ;)
