To watch the NCAA tourney after seeing your beloved team lose on the first day of the Madness in heartbreak fashion? For me, once UW gets knocked out(hopefully against Cornell) I think I'll start to feel better about things and it will help me some to get over what occured yesterday. UW better not go on a run.
I haven't watched any basketball today. I have no idea how my bracket is doing. I don't care.

Yeah, I didn't watch nay either until I turned the t.v. on and saw Wofford tied up with UW at the start of the 2nd half. I thought UW would always win, but Wofford kept taking a one point lead and then either missing a FT or turning it over trying to extend their lead throughout the entire 2nd half. UW ends up pulling it out and now I feel even worse. Sucks being a big college basketball fan right now. I can deal with losing, but not in the fashion MU did yesterday - blowing a 15 point lead and then losing on a shot with 1.7 seconds left. Painful, to say the least.

I bought tickets to the games in Milwaukee. I couldn't help by look around and wonder "how much more Gold would I be seeing had Marquette won last night?"
I hear you. Channel surfed after the game because I didn't want to watch any other game. Didn't turn on the computer so I wouldn't have to relive it. Dreaded going to work to hear it from co-workers. (Who gave me a sympathy card). Really don't care who wins anymore.
I am going to be watching the WI high school games tonight. Vander Blue in the early game and my (current) home town team of Arrowhead in the finale against Marquette High. Get to feed my basketball addiction without the jealousy of watching other teams still alive in the tournament. Makes it workable.
Sort of watched the second half of Madison-Wofford...online. Saw a few minutes of Xavier-Minn...while working out. That game last night completely sucked the life out of this thing for me.

Great alternative. After last night's heartbreaker I kinda forgot about the WIAA state playoffs. Looks like I'm going to watch Vander tonight.

Yeah, it sucked the life out of me mentally and physically today. I went to go running earlier this morning and just had my worst workout in a looong time. I'm just having a hard time knowing more than anything that we won't get to see that same group of guys ever compete on the court again together. They were such a special/unique group of players and coaches. I so badly wanted them to get to the Sweet 16 because they all deserved it so much. A Sweet 16 berth would've felt like a national championship with everything the team endured and overcame this year.
Very much so. Before the game I was so into the games and now it's just like, oh yeah I have them winning. Even at school it's hard not to think about the sweet 16 in our hands. But let's face it even though I/we can't, we have the worst luck.
definitely hard. usually my favorite time of the year....can't wait for next year....
can the wi stae playoff games b e seen on the web
I was a bear to deal with today at work. I slept like sh*t last night, and was sick and tired of hearing/talking about it 15 minutes into the day. A bit cantankerous to say the least.
Also... I am sick and tired of people who went to UW-Bumf*ck (and either dropped out, or took 7 years) talking crap about MU. I'm sorry, River Falls grad, your rival is UW-Stout, not Marquette. Sometimes I hate this state and today was one of those days.
God I wish Wofford could have given us some joy today.

The last few minutes of that game were the only minutes I've watched today, in hopes that a Bucky loss would dull the pain somewhat. That didn't work out as planned.

Anyone who tried to talk to me at work about the loss/UW my response was simple. "It's baseball season, go Crew"

I believe I remember the announcer say he bet their were Boise St fans watching Ben Mills play on the Internet feed so I assume so. I am not sure where to find it though.

Speaking of which, Appleton East was winning 20-17 after one over Memorial. East scored the first bucket of the 2nd...then Memorial put on a 22-0 run to end the half. Blue is amazingly fast, but not terribly consistent from the outside.
Blue has 17 pts and has to have at least 10 rebounds playing at the back of a 1-3-1 zone. Except for a shot at the 3rd qtr buzzer he hasn't taken many outside shots. There's a dunk for 19
One of the Appleton East players has almost the exact same form as a guy in the movie Hoosiers. If he would raise his right knee while shooting it would be exactly the same.
Oh yeah, Blue has 21 now

Go Bucks
The Bucks are hot right now. Fun to watch.
i am sick of hearing... "hey thanks a lot marquette ruined my bracket."
My favorite time of year also--but not when we melt down like we did. It is hard to get into the other games--especially with Bucky still going strong.
Absolutely can't take more of these early exits. Next year will likely be a struggle to just make the dance. We must develop a down low game, as I suspect we won't be winning many games with 3 point shooting. Teams will try to contain DJO.
I watched the Wofford game just hoping that the basketball gods weren't only out to get MU every year. I was wrong they are.

I was listening to ESPN radio yesterday and they mentioned that out of 4 million plus entrants to the ESPN bracket challenge, there were only two perfect brackets remaining. Who the hell could have envisioned all of those upsets unless they were totally random guesses?

I don't know if it is luck, poor execution or what, but our post-season record is depressing. Xavier advanced past the first round for the fourth year in a row yesterday, with some deep runs during that time. They always seem to step up at tourney time. It is frustrating losing these winnable heartbreakers seemingly year after year.
Don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled the program is light years ahead of where it was, for example, in the Dukiet days, but I really hope we can take the next step and consistently move beyond that first round. Hopefully the talent coming in can get us there.

I agree but look how many upsets and close games there are. Hell the rodents should have lost to Wofford. Unless you are a 1, 2 or maybe a 3 seed, you are going to have tough early round games because there is not much difference between say the 20th ranked team and the 40th. We have not been a consistant 1,2 or 3 seed. When you go in as a 6 it will be very difficult, you have to have some luck. We really should have lost to utah state last year. I think going forward we will be a 2 or 3 seed more often.
