Title: Does this possibly tip the balance?

IT may have a broken shooting hand.   Husky fans hanging out here, any truth to this, what will the impact be, etc?   I know it says this injury happened a while back, but is he going to be less than 100%?    Personally, I think it turns out to be a non-issue.   If he has played effectively before, this will be no different.

Well, since he injured it they are 7-1. In those 8 games, he is averaging 18 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 4 apg, and 2 turnovers.

I think he is dealing with it just fine.

So which MU Scooper is going to take a felony assault charge for the team and finish the job?

LOL... I'm sure he has plenty of free time for the rest of the season.

The article says that he plans on wearing a glove in the game.

I don't have a question specifically about the Thomas kid, but can you wear gloves in basketball?  I've never seen someone wear a glove that I can recall.  For a late-game inbounds hail-marys why doesn't our team have a set of wide-receiver gloves?

If you are asking seriously...  I believe there is a rule about wearing anything that would come between your hand and the ball.  I for some reason remember a situation were a player had to remove tape that went from around his wrist and crossed his palm.  But I could be wrong.

Definitely a serious question.  Here's a quote from Thomas in the linked article regarding his glove:
**************
"It was like shooting off the palm of my hand and you're not supposed to do that when you shoot," Thomas said. "I had to take it off and they're making me a new one, so hopefully there is thinner padding in it."
**************
"Too much padding" sounds like it would be on his palm, right?  And he's planning on getting a new one for the tourney.  It'll be interesting to see if it's allowed or not.

Buzz will just throw some Chiclets on the court in front of him, causing him to slip and fall.  :)

In fact, they may wish to re-break it, once it heals.   ::)

I might be missing something here, but I was under the impression that this was a recent diagnosis, i.e. he played those games not knowing he was injured.  It said he had pain on Feb 11 but got it checked out "later."  I was interpreting later as within the last week or so (otherwise, would it be news now?)

If so, the fact that he knows he's injured now may have a psychological or subconscious effect regardless of how well he may have played those eight games.  Or it may not.

Or maybe he aggravated the injury recently and finally got it checked out.

I would just hand check more often to get Thomas to switch to his broken hand, leaving him wide open to have his pocket picked.

I'm not sure what the rule is, but he was wearing a fingerless glove in the Pac-10 tournament and the refs didn't have a problem with it.  He took it off at halftime though, he felt like it was affecting his shot.

He's said it's not an issue when shooting or dribbling, just when he falls on that hand.
