14 games? I mean, when they are rolling, as right now vs. UL, they just keep on comin'. Big, tall, quick and athletic. Holy
cronin
Coaching and terrible shot selection. Did you see how many 16 foot jumpers their bigs were launching in the 1st half?
With their length and relatively solid depth, Cronin should have run with this team. Instead, they play slow down ball on offense and don't bring consistent pressure on defense. If UC dumps Cronin and these guys stick around, a new Cincy coach has a gold mine of talent to work with.
Does anyone know the deal with Siva? I remember some ville fans saying he would be better than wall pre-season, but it seems he never plays.
Because Cronin is a joke of a coach. You could easily make the argument that Cincinnati is more talented than any team in the Big East, besides maybe Nova, Cuse or WestVa. You throw in Stephenson with that senior class, with Deanta Vaughn and Yancy Gates, and you have one hell of a talented basketball team. But Cronin is just an awful coach.
If there's a hotseat in the Big East it's in Cincinnati, or possibly Newark, him and Gonzo are the only coaches I believe should not return next year. You look at a guy like Norm Roberts, who really is on the hotseat and you compare his team with Cronin's and it's not even close talentwise even though the records are similar. I personally think Roberts is one hell of a coach, he drew up some brilliant plays against us today, and he always has the Johnnies playing their hearts out. Cronin gets recruits ten times better than Roberts does, and he doesn't do anything with them. If Roberts doesn't return to Queens next year, and I were the AD at Oregon, I would sign him the moment he's fired
They can't make free throws and it has cost them probably 5 games this year....that would put them into the dance if they could shoot ft's
Stephenson also looks like a headcase which I think was his rep at the start of the year. In watching this Lville-Cincy game, I wish both would lose. Both teams are so unlikeable.
And why is the WVU-Cincy game the nightcap tomorrow. Wouldn't ESPN much rather have the Gtown-Syracuse game at primetime?

The tournament gives each winner an equal amount of rest. Gtown played this morning so they play tomorrow morning. Cincy played tonight so they play tomorrow night (roughly 24 hours for each team).
Cronin has had his team in many games, but chicos is right when he says their FT shooting has probably cost them a bid.
The bigger mistery is how Deonta Vaughn has decreased his points, reb, and assists average this season? Its sort of DJ-esque, but DJ has a ton of help and didnt need to score as much. Vaughn needs to be carrying this team with stephenson having a secondary role
Unlike Buzz, Cronin has yet to identify the style Cincy should be playing to maximize the utility of it's player and gotten the players to execute that style.
The quote of the night from ESPN was "in the first half Cincy shot 27% from the field and that is not unusual for them.
Towards the end of the game the announcers said they were one of the worst shooting teams in the country and also one of the worst free throw shooting teams. They are also one of the best offensive rebounding teams due to poor shooting and the length they have. They had 28 offensive rebounds against Loserville! By comparison MU had 2 against SJU!
