The ND game is now going to bite us. The only way it wouldnt was after a loss today but nobody wants to cheer for a loss. Now with a loss to Nova we are probably in the 8/9 game where as we would most likely be a 7 if we beat ND, now beat nova and we are a 7, instead of a probable 6. It does hurt now.
With 8 or 9 Big East teams getting in the committee may have to change our seed to a 10 or 11 just to avoid matchups. It seems like every year our seed gets bumped lower than expected so why not this year?
im fine with it getting bumped lower if we lose to Nova, if we beat Nova and get an 8/9 seed i will hurt somebody.
Bah....let me in the tourney so I can roll the dice. With this team, I'd argue the seed isn't important, and even the #1s don't scare me.
I think this is the year we get a higher seed than we anticipate...going to say a 7..which I realize is a reach. One of only 5 high-major teams to NOT lose 1 game by more than 9 points - the others: Kentucky, Purdue, Baylor, Kansas. Pretty good company this season. Plus Pomroy and Saragin have us at 21 and 22. 7 Big East losses by a combined 21 points....9-3 record versus teams 10-100 in RPI Top 100.
Missouri was thought to be a 7 seed. They got pounded by Nebraska today.Maybe we can take their spot!
very true, if we just get the revenge on Nova that everyone wants and we deserve, theres no way we get worse then a 7, unless we get boned.

Ouch. Even the 1's don't scare you? You are setting yourself up for disappointment.

I'm not saying we'd win, but I truly believe we can hang with anyone. Especially on a neutral court. I also know we could probably lose to a 16 seed (see: DePaul). I just know we'll make a game of whoever we play.
BTW....which 1 seeds scare you?
KU and UK would hurt us badly with their size, it would really be unbearable.
Give us Duke, since we can't have Cuse or WVU. That would be a decent matchup for us.

Well, we already know what playing Syracuse looks like. It was a layup and dunk drill for them until they got lethargic because they were up by 17 with 4 minutes to go. I dont think that game was as close as the score indicated. Their Away and Neutral record, combined with their SOS scares me. We have no answer for teams with two VERY GOOD low post players. We shutout Rautins but it didnt matter one bit.
Kentucky scares me. They will be a team that will continue to improve as they win. Seeing Acker guard Wall would scare me.
Kansas essentially has it all.
The only team, if they were to be a No1, that doesnt really scare me (relative to the others) is Duke. We could out-run them.

Apparently, Buzz just needs to call Pitino to figure that one out. I agree mostly, but I still think we have about a 30% chance at beating them

Their youth is going to catch up to them in this tourney. Nearly got them several times this year. Our two common opponents in UConn and UL worked out about the same. I'd say 50% chance we win.

Agree, this is the toughest matchup. Maybe 20% chance we win.

Agreed, another tossup, 50%.
Thing is, I'm just not "scared" of any them...

No kidding. "Not scared" doesn't necessarily have to mean "we'll win"
I agree with you, Rocky.
If we lose tomorrow I still think we are a 10 (if we lost today we would have dropped to 11-12). If we win, then we are probably an 8-9. Just my 2 cents.

Seems like the uber-talented freshmen get better in March. Carmelo Anthony is the poster-child for this. I think Wall will be the same.
I think Lou beating up on Syracuse has everything to do with the fact that Pitino was an assistant under Boeheim for a period of time. The guy seems to hold the keys to unlocking that zone.
I'm hoping the committee has Kentucky playing in Milwaukee because then we can't play them. UK and KU are the 2 I'm most afraid of.
On another note, are there any rules regarding a team that is hosting and also playing elsewhere? The Milwaukee dates are Fri/Sun, so since we're hosting, do they try to have us play on Thurs/Sat, whether its a written or unwritten rule? Or don't they care? Just wondering.
I'm going to be rooting like crazy for West Virginia (makes me sick to think about). However, they are a borderline 1 seed right now. If Duke gets beat early in the ACC and WVU makes a run and wins I think they will be a 1. That would give two Big East Teams as one seeds and hopefully UK plays in Milwaukee. That would give us only one possible 8/9 game to play in. I know it takes a fair amount, but I think then a win tomorrow puts us at a 7 and a loss puts us a 10 (obviously a big jump in seeds but it's for procedural reasons). Also, Pitt and Nova are 3 seeds right now so it makes it tougher for us to fall to an 11. Granted I'm going off of Lunardi who is not very accurate with seeds, but I think that scenario is somewhat possible.

Yeah, definitely a lot going on here. Its hard to even say which BE team should be seeded higher, MU or Louisville? Prob UL due to their 2 wins of Cuse but we got them head-to-head badly and we made it further in the conf tourney. How about MU or ND? Prob MU, but they got us at our place and they are maybe even hotter than MU is right now
A win in that game on saturday woulda made a world of difference because right now the answer to both of those would have be MU as the higher seed

Unbearable? Thank you, Captain Hyperbole.
At the beginning of this year we would have signed up immediately for a 8/9 seed. let's take what we get and win a 1st round game. We're either good enough or we're not...pretty simple.
