"Ticket Punched"
Shouldn't be much doubt anymore. Let's get Nova tomorrow to make a statement. Im sick of losing to them...

Lazar deserves the notoriety. While people are optimistic about the team next year, its hard to believe we'll be better without him. His leadership, inside-outside play, defense. Great player for MU.
While Cubillan had the big shot, Lazar made all the plays down the stretch - set the pick freeing Cubillan, big defensive play and made both fts.
The seniors scored 41/57 points today.
You would think by now, the announcers would learn it's not "Haywood."

I'd just like to mention how key Lazar's steal was down the stretch there. May have gotten lost in the missed free throws and some of the other plays, but I thought that was the play of the game
Agreed. That steal was awesome.

So true about Zar. Huge void to fill as he has been our only effective "big" for several years

Not if you're Len Elmore. He'll ALWAYS be Lazar "Spencer" Haywood.

I agree. We need to beat those bozos. How many times have they beaten us past two years in close games?
The most sickening one was in BEAST tourney when McNeal fell asleep on D and let Nova score a bunny. That game will haunt for years.
We need to kick their butt---but this will likely be another close one.
Nice for Lazar getting the ink----but did you hear Doug Gottlieb give his high praises to MU and then note "they don't have a single NBA player on the team"......Am I naive to think that he is a lock for the draft?---I feel like he brings the game of Wesley/Jerel with a much more of an NBA body.
Maybe Gottlieb is prepping me for another crappy NBA Draft night...I just think he's a lock.

If Z gets drafted, it will be in the 2nd round, and the 2nd has become a total crapshoot the last few years. GM's are much more likely to draft for potential (aka any 6'11" 19 year dude from an eastern European country with an 18 ft. jumper), over a 6'4"-6'5" 4 year college player, who will be 24 during their rookie season.
Think it would be more advantageous for Z to take the Wes route...get undrafted, blow up in camps then go on tryouts.

If I'm not mistaken, he also had the great cross court bounce back to Mo for his big 3, and another nice pass to Butler inside, though Jimmy went up weak and got rejected.
I still think Zar has a chance to play in the NBA. He'll need to improve his ball handling, which I think will happen. He hasn't needed to work on that aspect of his game, given the way he's used in our scheme. I've no reason to believe that his development as a player will stop just because he is a senior. I expect him to play somewhere initially, and given improved ball handling, eventually in the NBA as a 3.
Coincidentally, Lazar's chances of getting drafted and Lazar's chances of playing in the NBA next year are identical to Wes' chances this time last year.

He's definitely no "lock" to get drafted, but may have a possibility of it.
