What will MU be seeded in the NCAA tournament?
Lose in 1st round of BET = 10 seed
Lose in quarter's = 8-9 seed
Lose in Semi's = 7 seed
Lose in Finals = 6 seed
Win BET = 5-6 seed
I picked 11.
I picked 11 because it's what I hope we get.
It's really hard to say what we will be ranked before the conference tournaments all finish up. Even then the NCAA has several procedeural moves that will mess seed up, especially if the Big East gets 8 or 9 seeds.
8. In the Duke bracket.

+1 This poll is too early. It should be done after we are done with the BET.
Are people voting on what our seed is now or what they think it will be based on our BET performance?
I voted to #7 because I this we can make the semis of the BET (I think we can beat Uconn or St; Johns and given how 'nova is struggling, we can beat them as well). But, if you asked me what we are right now, I would say #10 or #11.
nm
I voted 9 only because I think we will beat Uconn and come up short against Nova...Again...

You say "we," but your nickname says "go panthers." Care to explain the inconsistency?

Was thinking the same thing...

That's why its fun. You get to speculate. Its including whatever you think will happen in the BET.
I don't see us getting higher than a 7, even if we run the table in the BET. I voted 10 on the assumption we go 1-1. If we lose our first game we probably drop to 11.
I voted 10 because all the data currently suggests 9, I think we will win a BET game and all the data will suggest an 8.
Then, because we always get screwed, and always get a higher seed than we expect, I added +2, to come up with a 10. Which I'd be happy with.

Well some of my friend find it weird but I am such a big College Basketball Nut that I pull for all 4 college Basketball teams in the state. I rarely miss a game for any of them even when playing at the same time and love it when we get 3 teams into the dance.
Call me crazy all you want but I always have and will continue to root for all teams in the state.
I have GoPanthers only because I go there and they would be #1 if I had to order them. Marquette is by far #2 followed by Wisconsin and Green Bay.
Marquette and Milwaukee are the teams whose game I attend most often :)
Hope it doesn't bother people with the name but I use the name on multiple sites and have been wanting to talk Marquette basketball with people for a while...

Really? you think the Big East conference champion would be a 7 seed? We win the tourney, we're no worse than a 4 seed.

It doesn't bother me. I was just hoping you weren't a Pitt fan with your Panthers moniker :)

+1000... unless MU can work its way to a 6 seed.
The 11/12 are the best options of the 7-12 seeds for getting to the second weekend, and the 11 means you wouldn't play the #1 in the regional semis.
So an early exit from the BET - while not what I'm hoping for - wouldn't be all bad if it dropped them to the 11 spot. My guess is knocking off Nova could get them to a 6 seed.
An 11 in the St. Louis bracket would be super sweet... I'd imagine plenty of cars would be making the trip down I-55 for that one. I'd welcome another chance to meet UK in the regional final (relatively) close to home.

Going off memory but two years ago wasn't 'cuse a bubble team at best going into the BET and when they ran the table they can out a #4 seed.
If we were to win the BET, it probably means we beat 'nova, 'cuse and WVU. If we do that on three consecutive nights, were are
at least a #4 seed.

You would be correct and 2 years ago Pitt was around an 8/9 and won big east as the #7 seed and get a 4 seed in Ncaa tourney as well... If we win BET you can expect a 4 at the worst.

absolutely.
think of it this way. if we win out, we would have a winning record against the rpi top 50 ( i think we are 3-6 right now) and our road neutral record would jump up to 10-5. not to mention the notoriety of winning the best conference in the country.
hell, last year, cuse was an 8-9 seed going in and just made it to the championship game in the BEAST tourney and ended up a 3 seed.
I guess I stand corrected.
I actually disagree that 4-5 days should have that much of an impact on seeding over an entire season's body of work, but it looks like from the previous examples, the committee feels otherwise.
I guess what I'm saying is winning a preseason tournament against the same opponents would have nowhere near that effect on seeding, and I don't think a conference tournament should either (like I said, move the winner at most 3-4 spots). But what the hell do I know.

And I think that's the approach the committee is taking this year, as they are no longer giving more weight to the last 12 games.
So in years past, the hot teams got rewarded, but maybe not as much this year? I guess we'll see.
yeah but if they don't look at the last ten games, they still look at the overall profile. Who else will have wins as good as Xavier, Syracuse, Nova and WVU/Pitt, all on neutral courts, no matter when they occurred. the fact of the matter is to win the BE tourney, you generally have to beat at least 3 top 15 teams, and it incredibly boosts your overall profile very quickly.

Haha, too early? If we would have won a few more games earlier on we would have had it a month ago. We'll have another one next week.
lets get to the semis, and get over that 8/9 game
