not saying that I am glad we lost to Louisville... but I would feel much better getting to the finals being on Pitt's side of the bracket over Georgetown's... they scare me
thanks for posting this..
can you explain the tie-breaker between ND, MU, WV, and SU and why ND gets the nod? I thought it was record against the top team in the BE and then working it's way down.. as such I would have expected MU to get the nod (victory over Pitt)?
No, any teams that are tied are treated as a "mini-conference". If a team has more wins than the others, they get the nod. If two or more are tied, they look at their records against the top team in the conference (right now, Pitt). Nothing decided? Then look at the 2nd best team, etc. etc.
ND has two wins in the mini-conference, beating WVU and Syracuse.
got it - thanks for the clarification.. makes the next game at notre dame very important!
as of now w/ a tie btwn us and ND, we'd get the nod for 4th since we have one more overall win and have beaten Pitt and they haven't, right?
but if we get a win Saturday, there goes the tie breaker :)
No, one more overall win means nothing. If we are tied in conference, its treated as a mini-conference. Right now, that means little...since the two collide on Saturday.
Words can't properly describe how big this game is!
it's huge, the fact that they are tied now and a win for MU would give us another win over a top team and all games from now on are very important. Not only to help our seeding come tourney time, but to give us more games against good teams which will be important come the tourney.
