We went 5-2 after the Providence road game. We played our game well, but shots did not fall in two of the games against both Pitt and ND. Our defense was not bad, but we could not buy a bucket from 3.
That is what is going to happen to our team since we rely on the jumpshot. It's tough to take, but that is our limitation. We could have executed a lot better down the stretch, but it really comes down to 3 more of our three-pointers falling. Then it is a solid win. The open threes just have to fall.
Most people thought we would go 5-2 or 4-3 down the stretch and we did it. We played some great teams and got to 11 wins in a reloading year with our big guys hurt.
51 points in regulation in both games against ND and Pitt. That is never going to cut it.
Good post! I agree.
We shot 26% from 3 v. Pitt, and shot 17% from 3 v. ND. Not gonna cut it.
Cubillan, the x-factor from 3, was 0-3 against Pitt and 1-6 against ND. We need him to be a threat out there.
The bright spot is our defense. We held USF, Pitt, Louisville, and ND (in regulation) all under 60 points. I have to acknowledge the good D at home. We just need to get to 60 points.
