Title: Lazar Is 7 Points Away From George Thompson
Post by: TallTitan34 on March 05, 2010, 12:06:50 PM
Once Lazar records 8 more points, he will pass George Thompson for 2nd on Marquette's All-Time scoring list.

1) Jerel McNeal           1985
2) George Thompson    1773
3) Lazar Hayward        1766

Zar is also # 5 in rebounds at 885.

1. Don Kojis 1,222
2. Bo Ellis  1,085
3. Terry Rand  978
4.  Walt Mangham  938

Zar is 53 rebounds off # 4.  Not too likely unless he has a couple big games on the boards.

Remember when Lazar started off with Thompson's number 24?

Hopefully, George will be on hand tomorrow.  GT had a good line at a luncheon last November when he teased other speakers that (in relation to his being 2nd in all-time scoring) "we would not be having this discussion if freshman were eligible back in my day...".

And if Wade decides to stay for his 3rd season he beats Thompson in the same amount of years anyway...

Did Lazar wear #24 his entire freshman year?

And a mismatched generic headband.  Weird.

You know .. it'd be cool if GT and Lazar struck a deal, he could wear #24 for the ND game as a tribute, since Lazar will certainly pass GT by half-time tomorrow.
