Looking for advice, thinking of selling the first day tickets (both sessions) and hoping to recover the total cost of 200 per ticket for the 3 sessions. One of the potential problems in selling to an out of town team's fans is getting the physical tickets to the buyer before the game since their is no electronic option like there is with season tickets. Has anyone used Stub Hub or other services and might that be the way to go.
Other suggestions are welcomed. Hope Kentucky gets placed here since that would seem to be the best way to get a premium for the tickets.
I've always used StubHub and eBay to sell tickets, but honestly, I've never actually sold anything I ever listed on StubHub. Some may say it's the premier secondary marketplace for tickets, but I've always had more success on eBay.
You can use eBay and still get the tickets to the winner in plenty of time... just start the auction a few days before Selection Sunday so that it will end sometime between 8pm Sunday night and Tuesday afternoon and use an overnight shipping option. That way if you ship the tickets on Tuesday evening, the winner will have them on Wednesday. Since most fans coming in from out of town won't leave until Thursday, this shouldn't be a problem.
Of course, this requires that you have the time/ability to ship the tickets on Tuesday before your local overnight delivery cutoff time. Otherwise, if the tickets arrive late (or if they get lost in transit - hint: only use UPS or FedEx) you run the risk of nobody having the tickets for the game and the buyer will likely request (and receive) a refund if he/she paid with a credit card.
Another option with which I've had mediocre success is craigslist. The downside here is that you need to do a cash transaction in person (for the protection of both parties) and some people may want tickets in hand before they leave home. Others might be willing to wait and meet you when they get into town, but if they don't show up, then you run the risk of not having a buyer with little time to go to a plan B.
Of course, you always have the fallback option of selling to a scalper the day of, but you won't get nearly as much for the tix.
Hope this helps. Good luck.
I used Stub Hub when I had NCAA tix for the United Center and it was fantastic. If Kentucky gets sent to Milwaukee, you will have no trouble getting rid of your tickets.
I have used eBay to sell tickets in the past and I never had a problem. That's the route I plan to take.
I am hoping and praying for a potential windfall from some combination of Kentucky and Purdue/Wisconsin. Granted, I will probably burn the proceeds on drinks at the various bars around the BC.
