Unselfishness. The way this team moves the ball through the pass is unbelievable. Everyone is continuously passing up good shots for better shots, nobody dribbles the ball for an extended period of time, and the ball is moved through passing rather than dribbling. This is the difference between us and the teams that we beat, and it was EXTREMELY noticeable tonight. Edgar Sosa and Jerry Smith (when he was in and had the ball) dribbled the hell out of the ball. I remember one possession where Jerry dribbled it literally from the time they got the ball past mid court to 15 seconds left on the shot clock. That NEVER happens with this Marquette team. We have great passing ability and continuously get great looks as a result of it.
And Samardo Samuels had absolutely no idea how to attack a double team. He turned the ball over just about every time he touched the ball tonight. He was one of the worst passers I have ever seen.
Great gameplan by Buzz. He basically said "Let's turn this thing into a shootout." Any time they got the ball into the post we doubled HARD, BEGGING them to shoot the perimeter shots, knowing that they may make some of them, but we would make more of them.
The NCAA Tournament smells great.
